SLP lid or K&N Filter what is better
I'm asking for a Christmas present and I want to make sure that I get the right one. Would an SLP lid good or would a cold air intake be better?
I have a cat back Flow master exhaust now and a K&N filter in the stock air box. I just bought the car and it is in storage so now is the time to play with it.

go with the lid. you already have the K&N filter so use that with the lid.

Slp has a lid $100 and a lid kit AROUND $300. I wonder witch one is better. So from what I understand 10hp $100 and 15 hp $300 is that right....

i dont think the difference in power is even that much. a high flow filter with the lid should flow close to the same as the K&N cold air intake

Thanks Stephen. I was just on the SLP site and they have a new kit in induction that states that the lid would give 12hp and the slp lid with an cold air intake kit would give 20hp I think that I'm going to call them Monday

Get the lid and do the free cold air mod wished I would've. I could have saved 200 bucks that should get you an ORY or a cut out or somthin. In my opinion there is better things to spend a couple hundred bucks on than the flow pac the lid is a must for sure though.

slps claims are BULLSHIT on MUCH of there stuff............a lid SHOULD net u on avg 10 hp though...every car is diff....just from what ive seen with other guys cars comparing lids with cold air intakes back to back the CAI always makes more hp.....its just not that dramatic.......hp amts that small are also very negotible on a dyno...there not that accurate even with back to back runs

Not much hp from either
The lid is about 1hp on a stock motor, the K&N maybe 2hp.

buy a lid sell your K&N filter and put a paper one back in and you will not be out much money and still make more power than before.
K&N- too much money, and no real results- too much hype. Then you get int oreoiling the thing and end up putting too much on and causing the MAf to go nuts, and cause you more problems.

most lids do that, pop open.
all lids are within 1-2 hp of one another. look back into chevy high performance, and they did an article on them.
Also to fix the problem of the lid poping off- you can tuck in front of the lid into the lower box. so instead of sitting on top it is now just barly inside, and that is all you need to keep it from not popping off. Mine has been that way for 4 years with no problems.
