Pewter- 2001 Camaro Z28 M6
get this, for a good laugh:
i was getting a price check for a new water pump for my 01 z28.
autozone: what kind of car
me: 2001 camaro z28
autozone: what engine
me: 346 cubic inch LS1
autozone: is that a 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder
me: (laughing inside) its a 4cylinder diesel with 7" dia. pistons.
Autozone: thats not in our system
me: yeah I know (as I walk out and take my business else where)
then I today at a different autozone I was buying Sta-bil to store the camaro today.
as I am checking out...
autozone: ah sta-bil, what are you storing?
me: my 01 camaro
autozone: cool a SS?
me: nope just a z28
Autozone: those are still nice, just not as fast
me: actually they both have the same ls1 engine
Autozone: no, i thought they had 454
me: nope its been awhile since a big block was in a coupe, it a ls1 just like the vettes
Autozone: the vettes didnt have a ls1 they had the bigger lt1
me: wow dude, I gotta go....

Its sad that places such as Autozone, and pep boys are putting good places out of business. There are still a few places around me that are reliable, and have a good knowledge base for getting the information that I need. You have to be careful, all these big businesses pay these people next to nothing, to know absolutely nothing about the product they sell.

I'm surprised the Autozone rep hasn't chimmed in yet. I posted a thread a while ago and mentioned my frustration with Autozone. After I explained in detail the service I recieved and why I wasn't satisfied, the guy offered to send a $25 gift certificate and apologized on behalf of his company. Not all of these shops have worthless dumbasses working there, the two places I go to have a few knowledgeable oldtimers working there and It's the only reason I'll get what i need from them.

I dont even bother anymore. I look for what I need online then go to the store and get it. Dont even bother asking those dumbasses for anything.
