Lt1 Getting hot
I changed my plugs, wires, optispark, thermostat and water pump out recently. Ever since then it has been running hot. I bled the system completley(I think) and for some reason the heater still doesnt get hot, but there car is running about 240-250 degreees just Idling with the fans on high Is the heater core clogged up or something b/c I can't see a leak at all. Like I said I believe I bled the system completely but It acts like there may be an air pocket still in the system. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check in between the radiator/ac condensor for trash build up. Real bad problem with these cars.

Your guage is reading 240 but you dont have heat.. Are you sure your guage is correct?
Does sound like an air pocket.. May want to try bleeding it once again.

Did you pull the bleeder valve on the top hose.
Is the top hose hot? Is it soft or holding pressure?
With the cap off and the car is at or above opperating temperature, look into the radiator. Do you see the water flowing?

Let it circulate a bit and hit those bleeders a few times. There is a procedure in the service manual for doing it. Was the heater working before the work? My heater core did plug up and had it replaced. The first time I just reverse flushed the heater core to get the junk out.

bled the system again, and flushed the system with that cheap kit from autozone, no trash between the radiator and condenser...still gettin hot. I think I will bypass the heater core and see what that does if that doesn't work I will be taking the water pump back to oreilly's and giving another one a try.

wow there is no way you should be runnin that hot. what thermo did you get? takin thermo out is not necessarily a good test because it WILL get hot...but that's with stock fans...since you can turn your fans on-did you have fans on whole time when you had thermo out?
