In ref to the hurts shifter question below
I have heard that the hurst aftermarket shifters have adjustable stops to prevent overtravel of the linkage when shifting hard. My 98 has syncs going from 1-2 and 2-3. Grinds when I try to shift fast. I was told that the stops in the aftermarket shifter would have prevented that. It did not do this when I got the car, so whatever the problem, it is my doing. Any truth to this or any ideas on it? Also, to reply to a thread, do you hit post reply on top left or bottom left of page, or the quote button to each persons comments? Thanks, John

Most aftermarket shifters have adjustable stops. The T56 does have internal stops but I wouldn't depend on them, too many people have bent shift forks this way. I have the Hurst Billet Plus with a Lou's Short Stick, some people have complained about it being notchy but it does have removeable centering springs to adjust the tension. I did this after my Short stick install and it has nice clean shifts now.

What does it feel like when your syncs are going? I have factory Hurst in my car with Lou's Short Stick. When I go from 1-2 in normal driving it kind of feels like it clicks going into 2nd. Is that the notchy feeling you are talking about or is something bent/worn?

Mine will shift allright most of the time (when warm). Some times going into 3rd from 2nd it won't go and I have to pull back and retry. It won't grind at all as long as I am not trying to shift real quick, but when shifting fast it will grind consistantly 1-2 and 2-3. From the sounds of it it is syncs. Does anyone feel that he stops on the hurst shifter would have prevented this? Thanks, John
