Mach 1/cobras(what were the price range new anyway)?
I know none of the standard mustang GTs can compete except maybe the 05+ GTs.
I HAVE KILLED MANY MACH 1'S AND bullet gts and A COUPLE OF THE 05 GT'S .....their first and half of 2 gear they can hang with in a 1/2 car but after that its all over and thats with my stock maro runnin 2:73's and a 135xxx miles on her matter of fact i killed a bran new gt the other night that had flow masters h pipe and i think he said he was runnin med length headers.....i think the only car stock for stock that ever really killed me was an old grand national and ...an awd turbo thing lol i dont even remember what it was. but like the other guys have said aint much can take on an ls1 and win i have even raced a couple of bikes on the freeway grant it they where 600 or smaller lol but i have ran a couple of bigger bikes i didnt win but i wasnt totally killed

I havent raced an ls1 yet but I am sure it is a few tick's slower than a roush stage 3. For $115,000 more, you get similar speed below 100mph after that the 6 figure's come into play.

Sadly, in 1989 the damn thing was as much as a 1999 loaded WS6. Bad ass car, though.

I miss my Ty. I actually sold it for my first LS1 car, a 99 30th Anniversary T/A.

Speaking of Turbo Regals, my latest toy headed my way on a trailer right now...

I doubt anything you can buy today for under $40K can beat an LS1 F-car.

My 2KSS was $31K out the door almost fully loaded. Every GM option except CD changer and T-tops, and every SLP option except the Auburn differential.

And that was in the days before rebates.

Got her for $14,500. It's an '86 with just less than 42k original miles. All the GNX stuff is OEM GM stuff applied by a Buick dealership in 1987. It's a heavily optioned car with power windows, power locks, power seats, power trunk opener, tilt, cruise, digital dash & rare-as-hell digital climate control. It's also got a Kenne Bell front spoiler with direct ram air, Kenne Bell fuel pressure gauge, gauge pod in the dash on the passenger side (this is probably coming out) and is also coming with a trunk full of extra stuff I have yet to inventory like dealer brochures, full parts listings, tech manuals, records for all maintenance and parts, etc. It's going to need paint at some point due to it having 1987 paint on it. But all in all, I think it was a pretty decent deal.

Except a Grand Cherokee SRT8. It's the only thing I've driven since my Ty that throws you into the seat that hard. An absolute BLAST to drive.
