Camaro ss or a 03/04 cobra, need some help
So i am looking to get either a camaro ss or a cobra mustang, and i need some help from y'all(i know there will be some biased views but w/e)
Anybody with any information would help, im looking to learn mostly about; How they handle, how they respond to mods, what you have to do as you increase horsepower(i have heard the camaro's rearend is weak, and the cobra gets alot of wheelhop) and any other significant information. After i buy whatever i buy, i will probably only have around 2000-2500$ to sink into it for some time(college incoming :S). And the average price for 30k-40k mile cobra/camaro.

You are looking at 2 totally different price ranges. The Camaro for that mileage, will run you roughly $15k, where as the Cobra will be above $20k. Please no one jump on my back, these are just generalized prices...
Both cars have their high points and low points. It's personal preferance really, do you want a badass very buildable N/A monster, or do you want a badass S/C car. The LS1's take to mods a lot better than the Fords do, but the Cobra can easily achieve 400+ rwhp with minor supercharger modifications and someone who knows how to tune them. The Camaro will require more grunt bolt ons to get to that level. The Cobra does get wheel hop since it is IR suspension, but the Camaro rear end is the weak point on the car.... so they say ... I have 400rwhp on a stock rear end with no problems what so ever. Both are awesome vehicles so it all boils down to you, what do you want?
Good luck and keep us posted!

If youre considering spending that for a Cobra, Id check into a GTO. Better car and just as much power stock.

it totally depends on you, cobra's can be sickening fast for very very little work. take 2 or 3k buy a used whipple and make 550+ hp. the irs can be swapped out for a 9'' or an 8.5 for the same price your gonna spend on swapping a 9'' into an f body.
both cars are great performers and will achieve similar speeds for nearly the same money. 1/4 that is, cobras are beasts on the hwy as camaro's are typically stronger stop light to stop light.
i will be buying a white 03/04 after i buy my house this year, i cant wait, and i love both cars equally.

The Cobra is underrated just like the LS1 F-Bodies are. So you're looking at about a 350hp Camaro vs about a 430hp Cobra.
But honestly.. u can make anything fast and both are quick bone stock. Go by what u feel more comfortable in and what u think looks better.

Red Fire- 2007 Mustang GT/CS
I own an SS. LOVE it. I would However willing to be seen in an 03/04 Termie. I don't care for the feel of the interior, but I am a big guy. 6'0" 238 lbs and the seats just don't fit me well. The door interior trim sorta sucks. BUT I can overlook ALOT for that sort of power... I personally won't pay 24k for one tho. But out here a decent Mach 1 goes for 20s (

if i had that cash id prob get a vette, if looking for some space for 4 ppl i would get a Z or SS and would still have enough $$ to supercharge it. the snakes look nice, but i get to thinking the FORD boys just wanted to sell a supercharger on a mustang for far more than its worth. $.02!

C5 z06 will crack um both. Or get a C5 FRC. All the performance of an f-body, but can turn.

im a GM fan all the way but i was in the same delimma i test drove 3 cobras an ss and two T/A's the cobra was straight up the baddest just hearing that supercharger makes u want to spend the money for it. but all u gotta do on the cobra is throw a pulley on the supercharger and bam 40 extra horses... but i ended up with the T/A and i dont regret it.

If you can find a cobra for the same price as a camaro go for the cobra. Damn headers and a pulley can put you down past 450rwhp. Normally cobras will cost you 20,000 at the lowest, while a camaro will cost you 10,000 or less with 70,000 miles give or take. Even a cherry camaro with 30,000 miles will probably only cost you 15 grand tops. Post some of the adds of cars your looking at.

if you don't like n/a get the camaro and spend your 2-2.5k on a turbo set up. cobra wouldn't touch it...and you'll likely have less $ invested in it

Its hard to decide, on 1 hand the camaro is cheaper, but it is also not as easy to make power. and i really don't have the tools to put aftermarket parts on. And on the other hand the cobra will prolly be 6k more to start out with but i can make 450+ hp for like 1500$.. dillema lol

In my honest opinion, if you got 20-25k, Id go find a Nice c-5 z06 in that range. I've seen quite a few 01 and 02 zo6's in my area lately for about that price. Whatever you choose, aleast its american muscle!

Between the two I would get the Cobra. With a S/C it's just so easy to make a lot of power for cheap. I agree on the interior of them though, don't much care for it. But if I were to total my car tomarrow I would definately get a C6 Z06.

I honestly would go cobra. Full exhaust and throw on a whipple or kb, you got yourself one HELL of a fucking car. I love fbods and really dont like stangs but i donyt even consider a cobra a mustang.
