it is already possible, just the companies have not agreed to it.
I play on ps3, but hey i'll buy it for the PC just to school Ed, PC thats where my roots are in fps games...........awwwww, the good ol' days of CS and BF1942

I play cod4 on 360 and my squad is 3 time prestige or better. No room for pansies, gotta have a positive kills/death ratio to. When we get a bunch of us on, people won't play with us, it sucks. We alll have to change clan tag so people think we are unaffiliated otherwise they leave the room. Pisses me off.

Oh my. Now you realize the reason my car isn't working is I play COD4 all the time.

I remember those days. CSS and BF2142. My server is ready and waiting.

you could become immensly rich by launching your own server and charging for that... start a web site... call up PC gammer mag, playstation mags, and xbox mags and do interviews... hell... lets say @10.00 a month for unlimited server access and a login name account for the web site forum... thousands would flock to that... to be able to choose your platform of choice and go against some one on another plat form would be awesome... i don't know the legalities of it though...

i'm going to look into this. I wonder if i could set something up in my house to mock this up, i have access to both the 360 and ps3
