So.. I'm looking for an iphone. I don't need to new 3G phone, just want the older model. I know a lot of people are getting rid of the old ones to get the new one for the discounted price (upgrades, contracts, blah blah). Just thought I'd see if there was anybody on here that was looking to sell theirs.

I'm planning on unlocking one and using it that way. I'm thinking about buying off ebay.. but.. I'd rather not.

I guess it doesn't matter, because either way I'm buying online.

Anyway.. if you have one or something and it's in good shape, let me know.

It costs sooo much more at this point to buy from someone, and there's not enough difference to justify it for me.

I have to get a new phone, and have to buy one outright because of where I am at this point in my contract. So, either way, I'm looking at having to spend 200-300 bucks no matter what I buy.

I can't find a 3G for any less than 400-500.

To me, it's not worth it cause I just want a cool phone. I won't ever be accessing the net from anything other than a wireless network, because I won't have a data plan to go through 3G or the older network. (I forget what it's called. Edge?)

dude a new 3G at AT&T is just 199 for 8 gig.
Friend just got one this weekend, it took att 4 days to have the phone after he ordered it

I'm also not buying it through at&t because I'm not upping my plan to the "special iphone plan."

I'm unlocking the phone and using it all incognito.

there's not a special plan anymore...it's 30 bucks for unlimted data on top of your minute plan. So I pay 70 a month.

I'd wait until you're eligable for a upgrade...

i have a old pewpy cell phone... it works just fine... i don't need all that extra shit... if i did have an iPhone the damn battery would be dead in like 15 mins from me screwing around with it...

It's handy though...those other posts I made in his thread were from a doctors waiting room bored out of my mind. You can't get that with wi-fi..

With the original Iphone I think it's only 20 bucks for unlimted EDGE access. What does unlocking the phone give you?

Free access to the phone, using it with any carrier, not being tied into another contract for two more years, and I've heard it unlocks the Multi-media messaging. You can jailbreak your phone if you want I think and get access to that too. From what I understand, when you "unlock" the phone, it frees the sim for any carrier. When you "jailbreak" the phone, menus that weren't there before will appear.

If I'm not happy with the usage on the one I get, I can always add data. It's going to be a long time before I can upgrade anyway, so if I decide to, I can get a newer iphone then.
