LED Circuit Board Steering Wheel-HUmount
SCRATCH THIS-I got it....all I have to do is pull the buttons and remove the original circuit boards....and pop the new LED boards in and I am done....Simple Plug and Play Modification....and extremely bright...lights up all the raio buttons on the steering wheel - SWEET!!!!
I am trying to find this info in the GM Trans Am manual....still looking....can you tell me or direct me to a source where I can find some schematics explaining where the OEM circuit boards for the steering wheel are located.
I am replacing those circuit boards with updated LED boards.
This should be a plug and play install....no wiring.
Also I am installing an HUmount...if you have any tips/advice before I attempt this install can you pass them onto me please.Last edited by Alpha-Omega; 07-31-2008 at 04:04 PM. Reason: Do Not Need Any Help

NOT YET....was not going to order it until I got the instructions. Afterthoughtsauto.com just got them in yesterday.
I talked to Deanne today...easy install.....ordered the red. Tools are 3/8 nut driver, few chip pullers, a flathead...borrowed those from the lab...and WOO HOO bright red lights. Comes in Bright blue too (extra charge).
Oh, you can adjust the level of brightness. There are 3 levels. Depends on how much you want to shine!!!!!

I ordered the blue ones. Anyone know if there are blue overlay ones as well for the dash? Looked around and haven't found anything yet.

Regarding the rebuild kit for the steering wheel: Each kit comes with full color illustrated installation instructions
Regarding Interior blue lighting for Trans Am (question about blue lighting for the dash):
The HUmount goes over the radio in the dash....they have blue:

I just posted full installation instructions.
If you mean gauges that is up here try:

Install was easy. Took about 30min only because I ended up putting the plugs back in blind folded pretty much since they give you no room. Ordered some blue 74s for the dash so I can get started on that project. Then all that's left is the radio display.

install is easy until you try to replug the connectors back into the the boards. THe harnesses are very short. Find someone that has very small fingers!
I got the standard red LEDs. Definately a lot brighter than the OEM. Nice to have lights gack again!

I used needle nose pliars....jewler grade. They are very small and thin. Seemed to work well.

Well the dash lights are becoming a PITA. So I'm going to go the indiglo overlay route to get the blue for bout $70. Should be here this week. Door lights should be easy.....next speed bump will be the HVAC conversion.
