Just read up on the "Jena 6" if you want a good laugh. Jackson and sharpton were in town telling everyone those 6 young black upstanding members of the community didnt and couldnt have done anything wrong. The "head" guy in their words "wasnt even there". Then the young black man decided to stand up and be a man and admitted he did it. now hold on a minute and read your history! the "negros" (what they were called then) were openly suppressed and separated until well into the 1960s. the civil rights movement didn't come from nothing.

So, does this mean my great grand kids should suffer for something my great grand parents did? This is pretty much what's going on today. Pretty pathetic excuse if you ask me.

I lifted myself out of the ghetto (I grew up living next door to Compton) so why can't they???? Murder after Midnight seems to have done fine for himself. What holds others like him back but themselves and a lack of perserverance?

I also didn't get any assistance to go to college other than what I earned for putting 4 years in the Army. I was actually denied assistance (college grant) even though I had good enough grades and a high SAT score because I was white (this was before the Bakke descision). I never got any "extra points" for ethnicity because tests were "white oriented and skewed". Reverse discrimination anybody?

what i meant was that remembering past mistakes might prevent us from making them again. and yes, there is something like a collective responsability. but only to a certain extent. i mean, i was born in 1968 and in no way would i take personal responsability for what the nazis did. however, i learned from what happened back then and do the little i can do to prevent it from happening again.

on every other aspect i totally agree with you. it's a typical phenomenon, when the pendulum swings back, it swings too far. let's hope it stops in the middle next time. of course, there is nothing like equality or justice in the real world...

You're right, it didn't come from nothing. What happend in the past was beyond tragic. But it's just that: in the past.

I mean, look at it this way: In the USA we now have a black man running for the highest political office in the land (and having a better than even chance of winning) where blacks were slaves little more than 150 years ago, and, although certain items were rectified through the 15th ammendment, the Civil Rights Act was passed little more than 40 years ago. If that's not civil rights progress (albeit slow) then what is?

jesse and al are way more in the public eye then the KKK is, the KKK is too much of a joke to be taken serious anyways. But any kind of issue where a black man is involved in any kind of a crime, no matter what race commited said crime, the 2 of them are there to raise fucking hell.
