Just received a horrible set of ZR-1's from TomZ
WARNING! Pics may seem blurry, but I assure you that I used a high quality camera to take pics of shitty chrome!
I just received a horrible set of ZR-1's from TomZwheels. They are OE Concepts ZR-1 wheels with Vredestein tires. The chrome is the poorest quality I have ever seen. There are several areas where the chrome is thin, wrinkled or has a matte finish. In every lug nut hole, there are deep scratches in the surface and the chrome is almost non existant to the point that you can see almost bare aluminum, which will pit very fast. One wheel has a brown stain on the inner and outer side while the other has a scratch that starts and stops halfway around the inner part of the wheel. The bad sections of the wheels are located on the inner parts of the spokes, the outer lip and the lug nut holes.
Now this is my second set of ZR-1's that I purchased from TomZ. The first set were 17x11's w/ Vredesteins and they were and still are absolutely beautiful from the moment I received them! The chrome is perfect, no wrinkles, no matte finish, no scratches and still no pitting.
Now these new wheels on the other hand are unexceptable. I have spent a total of $1,250 for the front and back wheels, but I expect the front to be as just as good of quality.
I would like to return them but tires have been mounted on them and I am really worried because this is what the website states as far as returns:
If wheels need to be returned for any reason the price of the wheels will be refunded minus a 10% restock fee. No freight will be refunded. No wheels will be accepted for a return if tires have been mounted. If tires have been driven on we cannot accept them back.
Here are pics!..........................
BROWN STAIN AT BASE OF INNER SPOKE
ORANGE PEEL ON OUTER LIP
SCRATCH THAT GOES ON & OFF ALL THE WAY AROUND THE ONE WHEEL
MATTE FINISH ON INNER PART OF SPOKES
WRINKLES ON OUTER LIP
MORE WRINKLES ON OUTER LIP
MATTE FINISH & WRINKLES ON OUTER LIP
DEEP, DEEP, SCRATHES IN SURFACE OF LUG NUT HOLE
MATTE FINISH & SCRATCHES ON INNER PART OF SPOKE
ANOTHER BROWN SPOT AND SOME MORE DEEP SCRATCHES IN SURFACE
BARE ALUMINUM ON LUG NUT HOLES
SWIRL MARKS, WRINKLES AND MATTE FINISH

I can't see pics, but I'd call and try to return them if you got a wheel tire package and they mounted them. It's a defective product and not just a didn't like them type of return. They can't (shouldn't) sell them to anyone else as new due to that anyway.

I presume you had them mount the tires before they shipped though, so I think that you're clear. Just call him and talk about it, you aren't returning, you're exchanging, and you're doing so because of their screw up. I'm pretty sure that they'll take care of you, I haven't heard anything bad about them, ever.

first step would be to contact them and send them the pix you posted.
They are known to take good care of their customers.
Wait until they get back to you and offer a solution to resolve the issue... before stating that they're product is shitty, as you stated.
Shit happens, but at least give them the chance to correct the issue.
Did you end up contacting the vendor ?
keep us posted.Eugenio_SS

have you contactes TomZ ?
btw, the restocking fee is not applicable, only for those that change their mind and decide to return the product... you want the product, but got defective wheels... just wanted to get new ones without the defects.

So you posted this prior to contacting him? Jumping the gun IMO. Sometimes things go wrong but in a way you're tarnishing his name prior to giving him the chance to make it right. Just my opinion.
Good luck on the situation.-98 GTP Coupe. Silvermist and stock.

Provided people read this thread instead of just looking at the title.
I've never personally dealt with TomZ however their company is known on the corvette and LS1 boards, I'm sure he'll make good on it. He has a great rep, I'd just hate to see it hurt a little because someone jumped the gun.

I posted this the day I talked to him.
No. He can read this and he should not be concerned about it tarnishing his name if he makes it right.
I work for an exhaust manufacturer and we got people making threads like this all of the time. This gives us a chance to show the cust. that we are concerned about quality and fit. It's only bad if you don't stand behind your product. Mistakes happen, it whether you make them right or not is what counts.
