Raced a vengence built Z28 tonight
Met up with a guy in the wal mart parking lot, he was in a black z28 98 or 99 , any way ,I am stopping in after a 10 hr work day to pick up a few things.
Well this guy opens his cut out and rev's the shit out of his car. Then he pulls right up along side of me, like he knows me. after he gives me the whole spill ,and gives me the grand tour and shows me his dyno sheet,401 rwhp 389 rwt, any way a quick summary, fast intake, kooks long tubes, slp under drive pulleys, fast throttle body, smooth bellow, slp mass air, slp lid, K&N filter, 3" cat back,Hooker aero chamber muffler, the cam is a vengeance grind he said 320 something, he didn't really know, it hit a hell of a lick, 4.10 gears spec clutch, pro 5.0 shifter, ported ls1 heads, any way you get the picture.
So I finish talking to him ,I go into the store and think nothing else about it.
I come back out 30 min later with my shopping cart full, I load it in the car, and leave,
Guess who pulls up beside me at the first traffic light I come to, you guessed it mr. Horse power
At any rate I try to brush off the ass whipping I think I am about to get, because my bottle is empty, and I am running 89 octane fuel, so the computer has been backing down the timing all day.
any way after ignoring him for about 5 miles ,I roll down the window and look at him like WHAT, he revs again.
I have 1000 things running through my mind and all I can think of is He has a 4:10 gear. so I tell myself , In second gear at about 4800 RPM'S he will be at about 5,900 rpm's so I tell him when I honk 3 times we will go, I wait till we hit the over pass, where it's concrete, I honk 3 times, all the time I have the clutch in, and on the third blast of the horn, I dump the clutch at about 6 grand, and I jump him 3 lengths instantly ,and stay there all the way through 4th gear, and I let off , we done this in first gear also, His car is most likely faster than mine, but as long as I kept him above his peek tork range on every start, and schooled him on how to power shift a M-6 ,he was always in my rear view.Last edited by maxwax; 06-26-2008 at 06:08 PM.

Nice story there! Did you get a chance to talk to him afterwards? Or did he run and hide? I'd love to hear what he had to say.

Actually I did , and he was confused, and demanded to see the bottle, so I let him see, valve is closed, and gauge was only showing around 200psi, he said ok man nice run maybe well get a chance to do it again.
Funny thing happened at about 2 O' clock today , the guy I beat calls me, and asks ,If you weren't spraying, why did your tires spin at 50mph in second gear when we started, I replied wasn't my tires I think you were spinning, thats why I jumped you.. I didn't have the heart to tell him I dumped the clutch from a roll.Last edited by maxwax; 06-26-2008 at 05:54 PM.

Nice. I like how you did the quick math to figure out his weak spot so you would have a chance. Nice full size pic, good looking Camaro.

Ahh, I didn't even realize you can do that..
You can dump the clutch from a roll? Is that a bad thing?

So that would give you a big advantage from a roll then..?
I had accidentally did it once, only by about 500RPM and it jumped, never thought about revving it more and doing it on purpose..
So what do you bring it up to from a roll? And, why doesn't everybody do this? I've never heard of it before..
