help me catch a theif
Okay, so where my wife works, someone digs through their purses sometimes and steals money. Now, let's just skip the whole "if they know sometimes that someone steals stuff they shouldn't keep their money there" speech.
How do we boobie trap a purse. Anyone know anything about tasers? Like is there some taser that we could just put in there that would put someone on their asses when they started digging through it? I thought about a mouse trap too, but that just doesn't seem to have enough "umph" for me. I found some dye stuff that you can put on money that will make their hands turn the color of the dye from the sweat on their fingers, but I'm not sure if that's worth a damn.
Anyone know of a great solution or anyone know about a taser that would work in that situation where it would just remain on or was turned on by being moved?

stop taking your purse to work
can't you just set a hidden video camara and catch them?

She works at a restaurant. They only do hidden camera stuff and that kind of thing when people steal from the company. When it's from employees, they don't care.
It's gonna have to be something not all that expensive and comletely self contained since it's gonna have to be pretty much employee supplied.

have your wife leave her purse in her car.

Leave it in the car +1. But I understand you wanting to catch or harm the thief since he prolly has ripped money off from her which is really ripping it off from you. I would go mouse trap, maybe do a little modding to it. Bigger spring, mod it like you would mod your car

Man: The Mods you are fighting,
they are the biggest Men I have ever seen. I
wouldn't want to fight them!
Me: That is why no one will remember your name!

Like I said, let's skip the obvious one. My wife does leave her purse in the car, but the fact of the matter is, she works with a thief. He or she has taken hundreds from the girls that work there.

Thanks, someone is paying attention
They haven't stolen anything from my wife. They've stolen from the other girls there. They're fairly certain they know who it is, but just don't have any way to prove it.
I'm more concerned with stopping it for everyone and making sure someone gets what they deserve out of it.

This will ruin the purse BUT it's worth it. Put any color ink/dye/food coloring inside the area where money is kept. Something that won't just wash off easy. Sure way to catch the person and it's cheap. This has to be done just before work though. Make sure it's really saturated and will last a while

I once did this to someone living in my house (exchange kid) that was using my tooth paste. I put an assload of blue food coloring in the tube. They had blue teeth for a day and stopped touching my stuff

Have her go in and shoot all the employee"s...

Anyone think that perhaps the theif actually LOOKS in the purse before they put their sticky fingers in there? Some of this stuff would be blatantly obvious if they opened it up. Chances are they aren't just going to casually walk by and just reach their hand in, they'd get ahold of stuff they didn't want to touch.
As far as catching them, i have no idea.

Our employees get some of their shit stolen a lot. In fact, sometimes its their lunches!
They come to us and want us to do something about it. We cant. Its not our responsibility to watch over that stuff.
If its employee suspected, then narrow it down. Who works with her during these times of incident and who doesnt? When will THOSE people have access to it when your girl cant?

A dye pack or something like that might be OK, but be careful about setting anything that could be contrued as a "booby trap," especially if it causes pain or discomfort to the person; the use of such devices is a crime in many places, sometimes, in certain situations, it could even be considered a felony.
