    1998 Trans Am

    Ignition Cylinder? Wont stop the chime...

    My car turns on fine never see the security light and the black oval piece on the keys look like new. BUT...
    The car does not recognize i removed the key...it keeps chiming making that annoying noise as if you lef the key in the ignition...
    Any fixes known???

    door open...when i close the door it stops...It won't let me use my power locks...It basically acts as if i would have left the key in the ignition.

    You might need an ignition key warning switch. If you know how to get down to the ignition cylinder in a GM column, then you'll find this and remove it forever or replace it if its bad.

    wait this is in the cylinder behind the switch or behing air bags? Can i remove this or do i have to replace this

    Huh??? The key warning switch is seperate from the ignition cylinder if that what you're asking? To get to it you need to remove the steering wheel, air bag coil, lock plate, and the the turn signal switch in that order to access it.
    You can permently remove the key buzzer switch and the only thing it'll affect is the "key in reminder" chime.
