Okay, if you wonder why I'm so frisky today, it's because I've had one of my dogs get really sick in the last few days. He's at the vet now and will have to stay overnight, but it looks like his electrolytes are way off due to dehydration. He's getting IV's and should be okay. I'm happy about that.

I've got two black labs (brother and sister) about four years old. I drove through the remnants of a hurricane to get them in Spartanburg, SC when they were eight weeks old.
They stay outside and it's been right at 100° for the last few days. They run all the time (we have some acreage) and it looks like the hot weather bit them. She recovered fairly quickly, but he is having trouble. I even went home early yesterday, bought some Pedialyte, brought him inside, and tried to get him re-hydrated. Barely made a dent.
All tolled the vet bill will be around $250. That was a pleasant surprise. Sounds like he's gonna be okay, and that's the main thing!
