dual tanks
Well here I go thinking again!
Ok what I am thinking about is putting a race cell in the hatch area for race gas. What I want is to be able to flip a switch to change tanks, like some trucks have. If anyone has done this let me know and some pics would be great.

not a bad idea at all. but i haven't heard much of this. maybe you could try a broad forum for all cars and see if anyone has heard of this.

well basically just like some trucks with dual tanks, but using the same pump (in my case I have 2) so what the idea consist of is factory tank for premium and smaller @10gal tank in the hatch for race gas. That way there is no need to drain gas to up the boost.

i'd go to autozone and talk to the guy there. they might sell that switch and stuff as replacement parts for those trucks. get that and some fuel lines and im sure it wouldn't be too hard.

brilliant idea, wish there were more room in our cars for such things.

best to do that with a separate dedicated pump for your extra cell. If not you said you have two pumps if one is external you could tie extra cell in with y fitting in custom lines with a solenoid that closes line to oe tank and another solenoid that opens line before y before external pump coming from your extra cell. Your switch would activate these solenoids. If you have two pumps in your oe tank I dont think it would work without external pump or pump in extra cell cause there would be no way to draw efficiently. Its been done by my friend here locally just has to be approached right. He has one pump for oe tank and one pump for extra cell and they switch over at same time it activates other pump. Its a matter of the right wiring and pump/line configuration.

the trucks utilize a cross over line... if you did it that way you're octane level would be very inconsistant and requiretuning every time you make a pass that day to get the most out of your car...
also you really don't need race gas until you run higher compression or a large amount of boost...

Sorry i know we don't "need" a trunk. but i NEED a place to put the T-Tops. I can't fill that up with a fuel cell.

The other thing to consider is the return line for the fuel. That would need to be controled as well you will very quickly "contaminate" the race fuel with the pump gas remaining in the lines. Just something to think about.

Not really. Just one after the Y and the solenoids like stated above.
I didn't think these cars had a return line? I read somewhere that they didn't which is why the '04? Vettes fuel rail with return line goes for $300+ on Ebay.

I may be wrong, its not the first time. I have yet to look at the fuel system in any detail, but I'm pretty sure that it does.
