dont race for money.
if he wants to race, sure why not. i cant really say who would win though, sometimes those foxbody stangs can be tricky. if he's a douche about the whole thing give him the bird(not the car)

I've noticed with "random kids" who want to race for cash...they either have a lot more done to their car than they say...or they back out. See where his balls are....run him...sure 25 or 50 bucks...run him....see if hes sandbagging or not

I have run built 5.0's at the drags. The built 5.0 with the heads you are talkin about will put him aroun 350 horsepower with intake etc-look at a summit magazine they sell the motor building kit for it. My stock car I still beat them over at infineon, when the car gets in its sweet spot 3000rpm on up you just start to pull away. However the second time I raced the guy he used nos he went from high 13's to the high 12's, he was runnin slicks.-so like shrouded said run for fun not money- good luck and let us know.

you can take him easily i say he has the advantage of pulling away from you at first but youll pass him up like nothing after the start trust me my friend a 5.0 when i raced him in my old t/a i sold bone stock and he had similar mods except imported intake manifold

I have taken a 5.0 mustang that was turbocharged.. Not really sure of his other mods, I could just hear the blow off when he shifted. That was on the street, and it was a pretty close race.
At the time I only had granatelli air lid, slp maf, and lt'sLast edited by cant.b.caught.z28; 06-05-2008 at 10:25 PM. Reason: list mods

yeah i am racing him for like 20 bucks. we'll see i guess. i think i can take him just those 5.0s are so light and those engines have alot of potential but not as much as those ls1's

I'm gonna say that the 5.0 is still a terd with the GT-40 setup to the best of my knowledge.

Gimme a Break the GT40 set up is a Joke compared to an LS1.
The only way he has a chance is if he has step gears, good traction and can drive like the devil himself.Craig

Whoa more potential or cheaper to mod? The kit they sell on summit are like 3000 for heads cam intake etc and they get 350 horsepower built, I know 3000 for my car gets me cams and some heads putting me over 400 hp, hell if you already have the bolt-ons your tickling 500 if not over. Granted you dont go f/i they are quick (if you have the money) but they will never have the displacement are cars have.

black- 2000 nhra edition formula
you can get a rebuilt forged 302 .30 over for 1500.
good heads for $1000, used blower for 2500 and less and easily make over 500 to the wheels.
or just get a two stage fogger kit for under 1k. and you can also make 500 that way.
a very good friend of mine has a forged 302, hogged out heads, 4.10 rear, 3800 stall, fogger kit and sticky tires and does high 10s all day.Last edited by nhraformula; 06-06-2008 at 05:28 PM.

h/c/i 5.0s are 12 second cars. add nitrous or a blower and all bets are off the times drop more. The gt40 heads are nothing compared to what else is out there. My trickflow twisted wedge heads shit all over them. as far as summit selling a 3k h/c/i kit, its 2,000 bucks. worth every penny too.
