Info about 98-02 Trans Am's
Hey all, I currently have an 04' Cobra (In Intro's) and I was looking to get a second car and was wanting a Trans Am.
I understand there are quite a few of differences between the 98-02 years and was wanting some info on current owners as to which year is the best in your opinions. Best meaning, reliable, quality, performance, looks, and all that other nice stuff. Any reviews on any you have owned/driven would be great, with pros/cons, likes/dislikes, or any problems you might have encounted with it would be great information for me.

I would suggest the 01-02 catagory because of the LS-1 motor. BUT, there are some extremely fast 98-00s out there, so dont let that stop you from considering those.

black- 2001 trans am ws6
Any year 98-2002 would be what I would recommend but in the 01 and 02 the ls6 intake is like a added bonus.

^^I agree...go for a '02 with low mileage....the 2002's have even higher reliability ratings (both in my personal experience & articles I've read) than the 2001's (which are still very good overall!)....if you have the $$$, get a '02 WS6 with low miles that's relatively stock/hasn't been overly modded already so you can mod it how you want & there's less of a chance that the previous owner has run the car extremely hard....

Not to mention that there were more "factory freaks" in 2002 than the other years....

just curious, do you know where to find proof of that... i heard that in 98 there were more freaks...
reason being is because they had to make a deadline so a lot got thrown together fairly quick, and they had some good and bad bugs... dnt know if its true... so if you could point me somewhere where you read it or something i would be very appreciative.. i think it would be interesting what it has to say..

go with a 98-02. Doesn't matter which of those years just as long as its an LS1. And i dont know why ppl are making such a big deal over the ls6 intake. Pick up a used one for a $300 and swap it out. You'll be paying less for a 98-00 anyway so just get the ls6 intake with the left over cash.
