Help me upgrade my pc
What should I get ? I got a wireless keyboard/mouse and a 22 " widescreen monitor. 1440x900
I want to upgrade memory/video card etc..........what should I get ? Budget is tight so I cant go top of the line. Here is my present system :
Gateway Home PC
Pentium® 4 CPU 2.60ghZ
2.59 GHz, 512 mb of RAM
Creative SB Audigy
Windows XP Version 2002
Service Pack 2
NVIDA GeForce FX 5200 (Gateway)
It still works great. Just trying to make it work even better and be up to date. I really want to improve my video quality/performance.

Find out what type of memory you have and order a couple of gig sticks. They are about dirt cheap now. Nvidia have some dirt cheap cards as well. I have a 5600 and it works great.
Newegg is a good place.. so is tigerdirect.
Im running a 2001 dell with a free copy of xp with 2 gigs of ram..It hauls ass for a dino

Always max your RAM
You might find you won't need/want a new video card

max out the RAM is the first thing you do if you bought a pre built system. Other than that you buy what you need. if you do gaming that is where it gets pricey

you either have ddr 1 or 2 ram.
your best bet is to go on to gateways website and see what they say is an upgrade to your computer. once you find out what ram it is go to newegg or tigerdirect to order your ram
