Cam Shaft Help
Hello all. I have an 02 WS6. I'm wanting to get a bigger cam shaft. The objective is to get as much power as I can. Any recommendations?

Need more info. Is it going to be a DD? Are you going to force induct?

I would say the best way would be to talk to one of the sponsors and get a custom ground cam that has everything you want.

I see. Any idea what a custom built cam would cost?

I could not really tell you probly somewhere from 400-500. That is without the valvetrain upgrade. Also you wont see the max beinfit from the cam with stock heads, intake, exhaust. So if your really going to be making a HP monster you should really look into supporting mods like SFC, clutch, if your auto than a stall, and better start saving up for a rear end.

geez! I can see myself stocking up on the honey does for a while before running it by the boss at home!
Well, thanks for the advice. Appreciate it.

start with the bolt ons that the cam needs anyway and it'll keep you from having to be tuned until after the cam and you can get progressively faster that way too. Start with with an air lid, catback, then headers and y pipe, a stall if you have an automatic and an underdrive pulley. At this point, the car will be significantly faster than it is now, and at this point, a cam swap can net you a significant gain. Stay away from expensive garbage that doesn't return the HP like different MAF's, "ram air" setups, fancy plugs/coils/wires, etc. Oh yeah, I didn't even mention that just after those boltons, you will need to do some work to get the car to leave without spinning seriously. Good luck and have fun.

What do you mean by this statement? Most power under the curve, highest peak hp at some RPM? Are you currently running the stock cam?
Cam is the heart of the car, pick the wrong one and you won't like how it runs. You should do some reading on cam design to help make an informed decision. Here's a good start: LinkLast edited by vettenuts; 06-02-2008 at 04:38 AM.
