HAHA. That's so funny because my friend and I were wishing the same thing - find a rear smashed GN, GNX, or '89 TTA and put the turbo 3.8 in the '81 so it would still be a turbo T/A, and fast, too.
My Recaro seats are still there but the rest of the interior is either bad or missing other than new door panels and a few other things I have bought. the car drives but needs a lot of work. Almost entirely rust free and still has the turbo cast wheels. An LS1 out of a wrecked F-body or 'vette would be cool but I don't kow how feasible it is yet.
Have any idea who could re-cover the recaro seats back to new? Plus, the mesh in the headrests are gone.
Since it can never be a matching #s car I would like to put something with a little performance in it so it won't be a dog.
Between my '81 and '78 I have a lot of work and $$ to do so I can't dump a lot in the engine of the '81.

that is funny. . . but those 3.8's would prob be a pain in the ass to find, and i dont how much run. never really for em.
yeah the interior in my isnt great at all. . . has nasty carpet and door panels are pretty beat up. my seats are descent, no rips, maybe a few cigarette burns, but the top of the rear is faded, which could prob be dyedthe mesh is still there in mine but partly ripped. i dont know about recoverin em? its like a velvet or suede aint it? id call national parts depot or the paddock . . . i know one or both of them had covers for the 10th anniversary so they have have the recaro covers available. but with the rarity, prob be cheaper to go have an upholestry shop do it.
