:( I lost against a 06 sti
Sad day.. aha, friend got a 2006 just the other week and we were out cruising around tonight. Went for a quick run, from a roll in 1st gear at about 3krpms for me up to around 140. He won by about a car but he honked also.. the sti has a 4inch downpipe and just some exhaust work, other then that its stock. As for me, I just have a ecutout, airbox, and new rotors and brakes for performance wise stuff. I raced a 05 sti and walked it in high speeds, any ideas why I didn't for this one? Are the 06 stis faster? and would his exhaust mods make that much of a difference that it could hold me off even at high speeds?

your car is basicly stock... rotors dont make you go faster... its not a big deal... modded turbo car vs a airbox'd ls1... I lost at a STI on the interstate once... I had a stock lt1.. it sucked b/c the guy was a stupid wigger guy.

black- 2000 nhra edition formula
that car has more done to it than just a blow off valve and exhaust work.
STIs start shiting out at higher rpm and thats where the ls1 shines. you should of passed him up.
last mooded sti i ran i totally slaughtered him.2000 nhra edition formula
a few bolt ons, 379 rwhp

It just has exhaust work, hes a good friend of mine. And driver mod would be probably be good, hes a damn good driver. The thing that was weird is how you said above, at high rpms I would have passed him.. well the 05 I raced last year was the same way I let him do the beeps so he had the jump and I still walked him fine once we got into the higher speeds. This one was just like he got the jump on the horn then I spun into 2nd hard and he moved up a little more making it about a cars length in front of me and then it just stayed like that until 140ish. I didn't start to walk, he didn't start to fall back it just stayed like that I was really surprised.

Pewter- 2001 Camaro Z28 M6
LOL
agreed...
driver mod... you should have stayed together (even race) or you should have won by a fender. A ls6 intake would really help your car out. i would bet your car is doing less then 300rwhp.
yes his exhaust mods with a turbo would make a big difference if all you have is a cutout on stock cats (no ory) and a ls1 intake. your restricting your ls1 where as he opended up his flat four

did he launch it from a roll, because you shoulda pulled him at 3k rpms cuz he'd prob be around that range with a bit of boost lag, idk
if you could race him starting at 3.5k you'd be surprised how much closer it'd be from the start

I beat a sti at muncie speedway....by 2/10 of a second. Honestly if he actually knew how to drive he shoulda beat me

ive beaten my friends 05 sti before doing the same thing, same road even. I know what our cars should pull them and just walk by at but it didn't happen this time. He can drive though I know that for a fact so I wasn't that surprised afterall.

thats too bad >< I have yet to lose to a 4 banger turbo tuner car (srt 4, evo, sti, gti), im mostly stock too, headers, cutout, lid, ported tb, and built 6 speed swap but maybe I havent meet any modded ones? All the ones ive raced I burned badly, some of them got me off the line by like 1 car but I pulled hard on em
you win some you lose some !
One import I lose to was a supercharged NSX w/ a 50 shot car was fast O_O
