NBM / Silver- 00 SS / 71 SS Elcamino
Complete newbie to Giggle gas,Whats the best Setup
I have been into muscle cars forever but have never run Nitrous. What is the best brand, Set up (wet or dry), and what will need to be done. My car is basicly a weekend warrior and strip car. I also Like to go on long cruises with the car club. and car sees roughly 3,500 miles a year. Mods are in my signature. Right now I am at about 400 hp and 390 tq. I am still running the stock fuel injectors.
I am looking for something safe for my Fast intake and stock lower end.
Sorry but I have never been around Nitrous at all and I am completely clueless on the whole deal.Last edited by Jays00ss; 03-30-2008 at 11:52 AM.

Brand is a matter of preference, where I prefer HSW. Wet is best.
You need:
* WET nitrous kit of your choice
* colder plugs
* fuel pump and injectors (I'm surprised you've not needed it already with those mods)
* tune with A/F & KR #'s
You want:
* bottle heater w/pressure switch
* WOT switch
* window switch
* n2o timing controller
Prolly a few other things too, but search a few threads. Let me know if you have any questions after researching some.

Thanks. I live in Colorado (High altitude) and therefore my stock injectors where fine. Thanks for your info. Looks like a little more money than just buying a kit (always is) LOL!!!
Also what is better a plate kit or a nozzle kit. The only time I'll use it would probly be at the track. Is it worth the extra $ for the plate kit?Last edited by Jays00ss; 03-31-2008 at 11:44 AM.

It is ABSOLUTELY worth the money for a plate kit. If I had to do it over again tomorrow, thats the route I would be going. As it is, I'm looking to upgrade to a plate.

dont be sold on the "wet is better" statement cause its not true....Dry is just as good and it really becomes more of people's opinions on which is "better". they both have their ups and downs.
plate kits offer better atomization and cleaner installs but typically ya wont see any increased HP over a knozzle set up. we offer kits for every budget..wether ya want a single knozzle dry kit to a full on Direct port system...we have what ya want.
this is a pretty complete kit that can get ya started:

single knozzle wet kit:

we now also offer the Interface...this little device now allows you to run a DRY kit as you would run a WET. you can put the knozzle anywhere you'd like or run a DRY plate kit. the interface adjust the fuel to compensate and it will also pull timing.

If you go wet plate you shouldnt have to upgrade your injectors just your pump and that kinda depends on how much you want to run but nitrous is addictive so youll probably need a pump

On your wet plate kit will the bottle pressure gauge read even with the bottle valve closed?

that is a misleading statement.
for a 2000 with smaller injectors wet is better, while it may not be as much of an issue on a 1998, 01 or 02 it is certainly better for a car with 26 pound injectors. These ups and downs make the argument - you put the cart before the horse.04 C5 A4 Torch Red - sold

Wet is also generally easier to tune for most, as you can adjust your NOS A/F simply with adjusting the jetting versus dry kits having nozzle location problems and other tune related issues around dry setups.
Funny too, HSW sold me on installing a wet kit when I made the decision to go with the spray! Matt@HSW FTW!

it is not a misleading statement b/c im not tellin someone that one system is better than the other...that would be misleading. everyone's situation is differant and no 2 vehicles will be the same.
if you spray anything less than a 100 shot than it "should" be fine on all years as long as your injectors and/or pump are up to the task. if your spraying anything over a 100 shot you should upgrade those items regardless for safety sake.Last edited by TNTramair; 04-02-2008 at 05:10 AM.

tuning a dry set up has never been easier...no more fiddling with jet sizes and/or knozzle locations.
