Black- 2000 WS6 6spd Hooker LT
My experience is I have beaten the C5s at the track, usually. Then I find out that they are automatics, with a 3.15 rear. I think that is why I beat them. And that was before my headers/ORY. 6-speed and 3.42 helps the ~400lb weight difference. My friend is always mad at me, he has a '99 with LT/no convertor, FAST intake, and I have always beaten him. He says "why do you always run personal bests when you race me???" at the drag strip. He also has a Diablo tune with shift points at 6050 RPM. (My personal best was that night, last fall, a 12.89 @ 109.89) He has not seen any 12s yet, but should soon since his traps are 108-109.
I am trying to get another friend with a '00 to the drag strip, he installed 3.73s, cat-back, and I helped him with his underdrive pulley, all the past 6 months.

I don't know if this matters, but I weighted my car last time at the track and it was 3530 with a quarter tank of gas and my buddy in the car and he weights 190. So that would put my car at 3340 and all I have is spare tire and jack out of the car, and mods in sig.

why do people keep saying the vette is overrated? Its not. The fbodys are underrated. They make as much power to the wheels as GM says they make at the crank.

You should look at the article posted in this thread, Over-rated, yes sir.

^ Thats whp. every car has less whp than the horsepower they are rated at the crank. Usually about 15% less which is what came up. The fact that the t/a put down so much power shows that it has much more than 305 at the crank.

I know I know, why don't we all just go find some corvettes and run'em then we can all rest easy one way or the other. Instead of asking and talking about it people should just race a vette and then you will have your own answer.

Stock for stock never lost, me stock vs vette mod never lost. Raced so many vettes and never lost, they seem to be made by ford. Only vette to beat me was C6 Z06 which murdered me. Raced on the street, at the track, on abandoned roads. You name it I have done it, raced friends, raced assholes. STOCK FOR STOCK its a drivers race, unless something is wrong with one of the cars. I have driven 3 C5 Vettes, and 3 diff F-Bodies. Was about to buy a vette til I drove my SS, much faster car. I don't care what anyone says, I have not ran into bad drivers on all the vettes, just not going to happen. C5 is a good car but I will take a F-body for straight line. Now in Auto cross that is a different story, a C5 with a good driver should walk a F-body. Think what you want, I could careless to argue over the internet. I know what I have did and I know what I have raced. Believe me or not I could careless. If you have a vette modded similar to me and what to meet up (if close) I will be more then willing to lay down an ass kicking. All of my friends around here agree with me because one time or another they have been in the car with me to watch some vettes go down.

I got beat by a C5, but that was because i got up on his ass end and let off and he stomped it and I couldnt get back into my power band fast enough to do anything, it was fast though, I do agree the Camaro's and T/A's are undderated and the Corvettes are correctly rated. The Camaro's and T/A's really have around 350 crank hp too...

You guys all so need to take into consideration if you happen to own a factory freak. If thats the case the f-body should beat the vette evertime if its an averaged powered vette and not one that made an extra 20 horses frome the factory like the car it would be racing. Some ls1's stock have dyno'd as much as 320 RWHP.Correct me if i'm wrong but should the f-body hook better also. That can also make up for some of the weight difference.
