I definitely agree with you. Also worth noting is the fact that GM decided to focus their advertising on other vehicles instead of the f-body.

Let the Bird have a break...for a while. If they brought it back now, then they would be so expensive not too many true Bird lovers could afford one. And let's face it, when the new Camero does hit the streets it's mainly going to be yuppies and mama's boys in them.
American Muscle (what's left of it) has become a plaything of the rich, which we all know is NOT how it started. It started with the "working class" everyday people who are now struggling so hard financially that it would be an insult to them to bring back a beloved icon that only the well-to-do could enjoy.

well-to-do would be 200,000+ per year. Most people I know that love this type of car are struggling to make mortgage and would enjoy a new Bird, but would not be able to afford it. That leaves the middle class out-- which are the primary basis of muscle car lovers.

If GM decides to bring back anything, they better bring it back right or else its just not worth the time. Its gotta be affordable, has to appeal to the middle class, and has to hold its muscle car heritage. This can be GM first step to get back on track. Well see

this is exactly what the issue was..... they made the trans am/Z28 cost too much for most of the people that want it... the mustang gt was a few thousand less and didn't compete so much with the vette.

hes right. why would you argue that.
the f-body was an old and tired platform, low sales and upcoming new regs helped kill it.

first I am older than you the only reason I am saying all this is because you insist that some 4 banger kids killed one of the most loved cars of all time which is crazy. eather way I'll stop, some day you will learn. Oh and by the by this is my 4th f-body I don't give a shit how I look to anybody I love these cars.

dont tell me what kind of person i am..its ludicrous that you would think that a single movie killed a 35 year old line of cars?? if that was the case..then why did the mustang survive? the f-bodies were not targeted to 15-18 year old market anyways. how many 15-18 year old kids could afford a 30k+ muscle car anyways? I think it is very foolish to think one event caused the epic fail of a entire platform. They RETIRED the platform..they planned to anyways even before 2002. It was just how things were meant to be. Even if the f-bodies sold well through there 4th gen..they would have been put on a new platform anyways. I'm not trying bash you..but you got to think about your theory before you go around saying its the sole reason why f-bodies are dead.

Even without CAFE, GM would not bring back the "Firebird" with out the "Trans Am" model. It has been stated before that the bird would not re-appear because of the licensing fees assotiated with the Trans Am name. GM is not willing to pay those licensing fees again. I personally wish our "Camaro" would have stayed "The Last Of The Breed" also.

Lets not give them a reason to build another one. Face it there gone but sure as hell not forgotten. Look at what happened with the GTO...UGLY! I like it that they dont make them any more, because thats wut makes them stand out in the crowd unlike stangs and vettes. Drive a WS6 down the road and every head will turn, take a stang down the same road and no1 will care cuz there are so many of them.

Very true... I was on the kick of having them build a new one for a while as well.. so that I can finally get the BRAND NEW car.. not new to me car... with a warranty, no miles, no history, no jerrry rigs, etc... but then thought about it.. without a new one.. I'll run mine till the engine goes.. spend 5 grand on a new one.. run it for anotehr 100,000, etc.. instead of being 30,000 in debt right away...

Sorry I didn't read the thread, but I'd be very unhappy if they messed up the T/A. Plus all those poor souls that have the last of the breed logos would have to be rebadged...
