LS1 vs Vette
Questions: First, a guy once told me that an SS camaro would out run a Vette and he said that the TA's had more HP than the Vettes. Said that the Vetts hp is rated at the flywheel and the ta's is rated at the rear wheel. Any body know?
Second, what is the diff. between the engines of both the TA's and the Vetts of same year?

who ever told you that didn't know what the f they were talking about. The SS and WS6 share almost exact numbers and stock they were "rated" at 325 give or take. Though the F-bodies and the vettes shared the same engine the vettes had more power that them. Stock for stock Vette will get you every time.

the actual dyno #s on a ws6 were showing close to 350 from the factory and they under-rated it. do a search. The vette will win everytime because its more powerful and lighter. They both have the LS1 motor though i think the vette just has an LS6 intake and is tuned for more power. (correct me if im wrong)

the convertible vette is about the same. the hard top is rated .3 faster in 1/4 mile. a lightly modded T/A will take on a stock vette. but stock vs stock my money would be on the vette. also, yes they have the same engine and the 01, 02 camaros and T/As also had the ls6 intake manifold which flows better than the others'.

i know with the 01 and 02 the ls1 is the exact same in both versions they are both tuned the same and have the same intake, and before then i think the only real difference were the intakes. so stock vs stock it all comes down to weight and that were the corvetts have the trans ams and camaros

i ran an ls1 vette in the 1/4 he got a 13.9 and i got 13.2, i have exhaust and lid, he had exhaust...

back when i was all but stock i beat a few c5's and im running a ls1 intake with a lid and magnaflow cat back i even beat a c5 zo6 up the high way. but that could be driver or him not 100% in to it

Same year Y-body vs Same year F-body,
The only difference is weight the vette does not make more power and even if it did the IRS eats more power up then the F-bodies live axle. In reality it's a drivers race.Craig

i ran my ta against my buddys c5 and beat him by a car but im pretty sure it was cause he doesnt know how to race. But the vettes have a different tune and are lighter thats pretty much the difference.

I love putting the smack down on every rich guy driving his new c6, you rarely run across a vette with more than an exhaust around here. Its mostly just guys having a mid life crisis. Everytime i see a new Z06 its in a parking lot, not that i could beat it anyways... Once the new heads come... Maybe...

Its called the "my dick is bigger than yours crisis" all us guys have it. Always tryin to out do the next.
A mullet mobile thats a good one, vets are bad ass cars and they associated with guys that drive them having a mid life crisis. But its more the fact that young people can't afford them for the most part, thats why you see guys in there 40' and 50's driving them all the time.
Beating any expensive car is always fun, just letting them think just cause they spent an arm and a leg on there car doesn't mean there's not alot faster out there. Alot of these guys driving these expensive exotics, vettes and what not aren't even real car guys. Never even changed there own oil and know nothing about there cars.
