LT1 Intake Duct Elbow
I was trying to clean up my throttle body yesterday, and I removed my intake ducting only to find a good half gallon of water in that long stem of a tube below the elbow. I figure I must have sucked it in there when I ended up in some high water a few months back. Needless to say, water is gone, and the car is running much happier.
Does anyone know what aerodynamic purpose that stem serves on the intake?

You might get a better response putting that question here: http://www.ls1.com/forums/forumdispl...aysprune=&f=37

It has no aero dynamic purpose, it's just a baffle of sorts to deaden air intake noise.
You must have a cold air intake on there???? I have never seen water get in that far though,,,,you must have ran through some deep water.
I run the 1LE elbow on my wifes car, still available through GM for about $60. It has the same outside appearance as the stocker but the long stem section is blocked off to eliminate airflow turbulance.

Yup, just a sound baffle for the intake noise, I also run the 1LE elbow and it works just fine.

I think the 1LE elbows are also slightly larger for a marginal increase in air flow.
