I have sold all of my gas R/c cars.......i could never keep up with the tune.(expect my HPI RS4 3 RTR) The only one i have left is a 2.5 T-maxx......biggest pos ive ever bought. First as im breaking it according to instructions it over heats and motor is junk. So hobby place gives me new motor because they tore the old one apart and found that a bearing was defective on crankshaft.
Then, the two speed tranny will never shift correctly(shift point will not change when the screw is turned either way) Also, it hangs up when deaccelerating, sounds like someone downshiftin a manual car.....makes the truck unstable as hell.
Then, the reverses feature has never worked right. Ive taken it to many hobby places and had it tinkered with....still no reverse. Ive messed with it and it will jump in for a sec then pop out.
Now, the newer motor is running like shit and wont stay running though a tank. (shops cant figure it out, its had 3 different carbs on it)
Also, from day one the truck doesnt pull wheelies like they show in the T-maxx videos. My Hpi Mt2 pulled more fuggin wheelies.....and its a 4wd stadium truck.........
I shoulda bought a Tamyia TXT-1 and played with it
rant over/

Well I know for a fact the 2.5 on a tmax will not pop a wheelie. IMO take the reverse off and get a forward only kit it will make it faster. What is your engine doing exactly.

If you know tell me which gas your using and how hot the motor gets before it shuts off. Could be you need to lean it out some more are you getting alot of smoke out of the exhaust

Ive seen a lot of 2.5 maxx's pull wheelies off a dead stop.....just not mine.
Im running 20% Monster trinty(IIRC....i dont any gas right now...it purple in white bottles)
And motor isnt overheatin from lean out....is runs like a badass for like a min or two then losses power as it warms up...like a blown head gasket....Ive put a few on there to try see if that was it. Ive tried a really big aluminum cooling head also...
Im gettin the blue-ish smoke from the exhaust just like everyone esle. Barely smoking at idle, then punch it and it stays a steady, strong cloud all the way to top speed down the straight-aways.......
When the motor runs after warm up(30sec) i beat on it and it will want to lift front tires and scream.....then after like 2 mins it acts like it has the old TRX from the org t-maxx on it.....NO POWER at all

Since you have replaced the carb so many times did you strip out the screw maybe its not tight checked to see. I know that its plastic and my father in law had the same problem. You only need one head shim so putting more on after already having them off will make it run like shit.

Ive been through 1 full engine, 3 blocks, 4 carbs, and i run one shim at a time lol.....im not that ignorant. LOL
they run off compression like a diesel kinda......the glow plugs stays hot from the combustion cycle on the r/c motors tho.
i want a 4 stroke motor for this truck so its a lil more reliable. Ive seen a few locally at a track. They are awesome but retarded $$$$

well, to me it sounds like once the engine warms up, the sleeve expands, and you loose compression, and power. so, if you get a new sleeve/piston, then it will run like a champ!!!!!
or call the traxxas number. i heard that their tech support is great. i have never ahd anything but awesome power from my trx 2.5 motor. i guess it just depends how you tune, maintain, and abuse the engine.

That depends on the size of the tank and what engine. Stadium truck is around 15 maybe 20 depending on how hard you drive it. Monster truck would be 30 to 45. Not sure how many actual tanks to use up a gallon. More than 15 for a monster truck. A gallon will last you awhile in a stadium truck. I only use Sidewinder but its a personal preference.
