Would you buy a ZO6 that had been wrecked?
I have my eye on a QS 2002 ZO6. The guy bought it last summer, put a new windshield in it and new body panels. I have talked to him twice now and he seems like a pretty stand up guy. Its needs a drivers side air bag and the secondary air injection pump. He said by looking at the car and the engine compartment you can never tell it was ever in an accident. The car has 55,000 miles on it and he told me that he would take 17,500 for it.
The price seems great. KBB lists it at 26,000 in good condition/no accidents etc.
I love vette's, and zo6's are badass. There's no way I could afford to buy a 30,000 vette right now. Buy I could do this for sure. Says the thing runs perfect/ no leaks and everything is mechanically sound.
It just slightly scares me to get into this. But for the price, It could be one sweet deal.
What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

No frame damage. He said the front corner panel I believe. But he also stated that he had to replace the windshield. So That might contradict some things.

Im thinking I should spend some money and bring it somewhere and have them do a full inspection on it. Sumbitch this can be difficult.

i wouldnt but that is me and it is because in the back of my mind it will always be a wrecked z06 and you would never know truly the extent of the damage. my buddy wrecked his brand new z28, hit a wall goin 70 mph and the insurance company said it was about 16 thousand bucks worth of damage and since the car was brand new they decided to fix it. this was about 6 years ago and this car to this day has a shit load of internal noises and feels unsteady.i know cars make noises when they get older esp f bodies hell i have even had 4 of them but something about the car just feels off and all the damaged parts were replaced. just my opinion

Ask to see if he has any pictures of the damage before it was fixed.

Silver- 2004 SVT Cobra
My experience with wrecked cars is that when they have had severe damage to anything involved with the steering, there just never the same again. Another thing to keep in mind if it was in a front end collision.

You really need to find out everything that was replaced or fixed. If they were just body panels then you should be ok. I'd pay to have it checked out though, a simple repair could still be screwed up by a crap body shop. However, if the repairs are done correctly it's worth checking out.

Yes, that is what I am going to ask him.
Specifically, What was replaced? What's the deal with the title? And maybe if he has pictures of it before the accident.
Thanks guys

I wouldnt pay that much if it is a salvage title.
there are alot of cars out there that have been wrecked and you would never know it. you could go out and pay top dollar for a car thinking its never been wrecked and the seller could just screw you.
if this one was mildly damaged and you know it was fixed properly... could end up being a great car if the price is right.
just do your homework, get it checked out and dont jump into anything too quickly. if the guy is in a rush to sell it - that could be a red flag right there.
