Both vehicles have there ups and downs and should both deserve there do respect to say a mustang is slow is ludacris every year its up and down some years f-bodies edge out the mustang and other years its the other way around. And in all honesty who cares how they come stock noone keeps them that way, even a 2v gt can have the bottom end built up and get fed 20lbs of boost and put down 600 horse. So quit talkin smack!

I'm not a fan of the german engineering myself, just using it as a price reference.

I care how my car comes stock, and I cant afford to spend 10 grand on my 10 grand car(bottom end, 20 psi boost). thats why I own an LS1!

Triple White Convertible- 1997 WS6 'Vert Trans Am
Hey guys - it's odd to read these posts about the rareness of the F-bodies and especially a WS6 or SS Camaro even Z28. I live in Northern rural Indiana and I even more rarely see a (let's be general here) V-8 F-body. Yeah, Mustangs are a dime a dozen. Even the six cylindar F-bodies are becomming rare..... Is the general opinion that our cars will climb in value? Do you really believe they will turn around and "appreciate" as opposed to steep depreciation?
I have a 1997 WS6 Triple White Convertible Trans Am and I have no idea how rare it is or is not. Cannot find any production numbers about it.................. I love - LOVE the car and for a head turner?? It does the job and then some. I also just bought a 2000 Z28 that had the 18" Z06 wheels on - loaded Z...... black........ definite head turner. Both dealers had the cars and were going to list them on Ebay, I got the lucky deal of a lifetime on the convertible. I'm curious, when did the trend begin of putting the Z06 wheels on the F-bodies? The more I look on the 'Net, I see it's a big trend. They look really sharp - but I wish I could get a different center cap as mine have the Corvette emblem on them which sorta throws it off a bit in my opinion.
I love to see a F-body on the road........... Trying to find one to buy at a car lot is a very, very tough find though. My brother just did, a 1999 Trans Am, but that took months of looking..........
Anyone have some answers to my questions....... or opinions??

One of reasons I got my car was because you don't see them. I maybe saw 50-100 4th gen f-bods this spring-fall on the roads, maybe 20 WS6.

Black- 2002 WS6
The Mustang was marketed better. It was heavily discounted around here too. Every dealer had them advertised and on sale. Every sale I saw for an F-body was 5-$10,000 more than a Mustang (for the V8 models). Mustang was a much more practical car also. The trunk was easy to use, versus the F-body's terrible design so women bought them in greater numbers.
I like the styling of my WS6. It's such a nice car, and it does look quite exotic. The Mustang looks very pedestrian by comparison. At any time if you put someone next to a WS6 and a Mustang, they will choose the WS6 every time.

I agree. I am also a DeLorean fan - just something I have always liked since I was a kid and always will. I never got to have one - yet - but I will. ONE time I had one pass me on the road and it was way too cool! I was really in awe about the car and how rare it is. Now, the WS6 Trans Am is becoming that way to me - I have one pass me by every now and then - that is maybe when I am in a larger city nearby (Chicago IL or some larger Indiana city). There are die-hard Mustang fans, seems to be mostly ladies...... but I will take my T/A every time. On the same note, I rarely see a SS Camaro either ... And if I had to count the number of general F-bodies, I would say maybe I saw 60 in the last 9 months and that is LOW. I wonder where the hell all the cars are???? I am sure not everyone is keeping them placed in storage too. I would hope to NOT think they are in the junk yards already. ZAK

2k Trans Am Traded In
Well you can chalk up another "no love for the f-body" here if you want too. Today i traded in my 2000 trans Am WS6 for what you ask... What...
A 2003 Ford Mustang Terminator Cobra. Yes my trans am was in mint condition and only had 43,000 miles on the clock. Yes she was a rare find, although not as rare as a terminator, especially a SVT 10th anniversary edition. Yes she drove down the road mint, and was a real beauty. but my marriage to her was an affair, because my heart belonged to another. Terminators have always held a fondness from me that couldn't be over come when i went to the dealership with a friend who was shopping for a car for this summer. I wasn't even looking for a car. That was until i stumbled upon this torch red terminator in the back of the show room. Sitting all polished up and gleaming with only 3,005 miles on her clock exactly. The original ford window sticker, laminated and on the passenger seat. i was overcome with emotion. It was love at first sight. As my friend and i left the dealership and i began the drive home, i felt a part of me was being left behind. I knew we had to be together and it was meant to be. I broke the news to my old lady, she was not impressed. Then i broke the news to my other lady, the black beauty. I swear i saw a frown under her huge breathing nostrils. As i drove her up to the dealership i spoke fondly to her and advised her she would be fondly remembered and that she deserved someone else who could be faithful to her. We parted ways, perhaps never to see each other ever again. After an hour of paperwork, to consummate my divorce and remarriage alas we were together. Her limited edition 17” SVT anniversary wheels and factory eagle F1 tires were polished and looked so beautiful reflecting the sun a tear came to my eye. Her roots type supercharger singing in the cold New England winter air on the ride home. My heart was pumping and my blood began to run forever blue.
So I bid farewell to my former LS1 crowd. I shall cherish the memories for the time, until I make new ones at New England dragway this spring. Before I know it I’ll have gone from LS1 to LS-what!

I just have 1 question. If your Cobra has 390 horses and the 2000 ws6 only has 320 , why do you need bolt ons to beat one. Just another good reason to Keep the f-body.

Better? HMMM that is a tough one . Some might say the mustang is better because you seem them everywhere. I understand that a Cobra might be faster. I have a 97 T/A and it is my daily driver. I see no need to put a bunch of bolt ons to it to make it be the fastest, there is plenty of people out there doing that. I dont see why you are on a thread talking about how great your mustang is.If you want a mustang more than a f-body fine, I am sure there is someone out there more than pleased with your trade in.

2003 Cobras avg 365rwhp stock. 2002 WS6 T/As avg 315rwhp stock.
F-body cars are more aerodynamic, weigh less and have a better weight transfer for traction.
All that extra money spent for your Ford I could S/C an LS1. But after looking at your post I question wether you have ever owned an LS1. Sound more like a Mustang GT troll.

I guess thats why Ford has to supercharge everything to keep up. There best mustang, supercharged, the GT supercharged, the Shelby 500 supercharged. I wonder what a supercharged Firehawk could do???

Granted. i think we are off subject a bit, but that is ok. I dont get into the rwhp vs, crank hp. I thought about getting a Mustang for a very long time. I looked very hard at a nice 01 Bullitt. But for me there is just to many GTs out there . I have always wanted something a little differint. i have had a f-body from every gen. My favorite was a 69 Firebird with the original 350. I know Ford and GM has always been at war so to spak. But at least you didnt trade for a Mitsu or Honda, remember they are the true enemy.
