new to the site, heres my car
I dont like posting in intro sections because everyone doesnt look in.
this is my 2001 Granatelli Camaro. ive had it for slightly over a year now, and it is up to 16k miles. it was 1 of 3 that JR Granatelli built in 2001.

Very nice. What exactly went into that build? Not familiar with the Granatelli line.

haha there ya go NSSTG8TR98...and nice smilie.
so the Granatelli signature series included everything in the sig except the wheels, C6 tips (it had C5 magnaflow tips), mac mids, and SS spoiler. it originally had GSS badges, but when i bought the car used it had SS badges, so i removed them and now have the original badges.Last edited by ls1dave; 01-11-2008 at 01:49 PM.

What a great package of goodies, pretty much all the essentials and sick Vette covers to boot. If it was missing the OG badges how were you able to verify or even know it was a GSS? Why would anyone mess with that knowing it was 1 of 3?

well thats a good question. when i bought it i noticed the shock tower brace and thought, oh cool, one less part to buy. when i took it home a buddy of mine crawled under it and saw all of the GMS parts under it. out of curiosity i write a message to GMS giving details of the car, to see if they had a receipt and maybe i could find the previous owner.
well he wrote back, lemme specify, JR Graantelli wrote back. he said that it sounded like one of the cars he built for Matco tools. apparently the GSS cars were available as a special order car. they ordered 5 of them, but it was unclear why only 3 were built. he then saw the car and verified that it was the first of the 3 he built.

oh i forgot to finish the info...
i wrote to matco tools and they responded that they ordered them for the top sales franchises of 2000. of the 5 winners, 1 wanted a truck instead, and another wanted tools. Apparently, because the guy who won mine was close to GMS they had him build the car, and sign the lid and drivers door. the other 2 cars were shipped to the winners and the parts were shipped, and a dealer installed the parts. those cars werent signed.
if you look in my first post with the pic of the engine bay youll see the signed lid.
heres the badge:
