Navy Blue Metalic- 1999 Z28 Convertible
How best to appreciate your Z28...
... is to not drive it for several months. Mine sat in my garage for several months because I've been driving my HONDA CIVIC HYBRID exclusively. I have to drive the Honda because I live about 25 miles south of Washington DC and work in the city. Traffic is horrendous, so I bought the Hybrid several years ago so I could ride in the car pool lanes without having to pickup passengers (slugs), which is what I did for years with myZ28.
Well, gas prices spiked, and the Camaro was always blocked in by the Honda or my wife's or daughtor's cars, so I never drove it. I was ready to sell it, so I decided to take it out. Man - that car really reminds you that you got a set! I've been driving this anemic little 4 cyl HYBRID for so long, I forgot how fun the Camaro was. The only downside is you also forget how quick the gas gauge goes down. 51 MPH in the Hybrid vs. 17 MPH in the Z28. 600 miles per tank in the Hybrid vs. <300 in the Z28. Premium gas ($3:30/gal.) vs. regular gas ($2.93/gal).
Oh yea - the day I took it out was unseasonable warm so I had the top down too. Little 'extra' benefit there.

383 w/Meth & ProCharger- 2001 Camaro Z28
Make it a weekend warrior and take it to shows/cruises and stuff. That would make it fun and not have to feel bad once it was gone if you sold it.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
i would not sell my car due to gas/inflations. hell no. I defineatly have gained a lot more appreciation by not driving it all the time though! Winter = 89 topaz. We are about to move into a house 15 mi from work [im currently only 3 miles away] so i figured this spring/summer, the topaz will see a lot more time on the road during the week.
Actually, yesterday was like 50 ish and sunny/dry. All the road salt had been washed away a few days before so i took the Phoenix out and DAMN I love that 2nd gear!

NBM / Silver- 00 SS / 71 SS Elcamino
Man hold on to it and make it a summer time weekend warrior. In fact go to the track a few times and have some fun with it. Mine remains in my garage under cover all winter and maybe sees 3000-3500 a year going to car cruises, weekend strolls or to the 1/4 mile track. I have 2 of those types of cars (I also have a nice 71 SS Elcamino).
My everyday driver is a little 2006 Kia rio that I get close to 40 mpg with. I have a 70 mile a day commute round trip to work.
I will never get rid of my muscle cars.2000 SS Camaro Heads, Large cam, Fast 90, 9"w/430's and locker, yada yada yada... you get the picture
1971 SS ElCamino 402 Big Block 550HP
2006 Silverado 2500HD 496 cubic inches of pure muscle

my SS has been sleepin for shit, 3 months now, been driving my 90' volvo 240 with 204k on it, but it gets just as bad gas mileage as the SS almost, 20 mpg max in volvo (mixed city and 50mph) vs 17 or so in the SS same driving patterns

Yea I hear you all! Back when I had my WS6's & my GTO, they always sat & I always drove my 00 Z24 Cavalier. It was always good to go get into the GTO on a occasional nice night & go for a spin, The sad thing was that I also got used to driving the Cavie everywhere so the GTO never moved
I bought it new & had it a little over 20 months & sold it with 4,600 miles on it. The guy that got it got a hell of a deal, but it was sad, I wish I would have kept it now
