Looks better than alot of new production cars I have seen coming out lately. But I think GM is hitting the Ugly bug way too much!! Corvettes nice, Camaro Sucks, and GTO could look way better.
They need to go back old school!!!

Monterey Maroon Metalic- 2000 Z28
Zr1
Based on what I read it does keep a dry sump system. Even bigger than the current Z06 which uses 8 quarts. The ZR1 and '09 Z06 are going to use a 10.75 quart system that should keep the engine lubricated under even higher G loads.
To the guy who asked if the Z06 was done for... Hardly! There may be other improvements to it other than the ZR1 dry sump. I'm hoping for a power bump with DI but I won't hold my breath.
A lot of guys on the CorvetteForum are serving up a lot of negative criticism over the ZR1. Mostly about the clear hood windowbut other than that we need to realize that the ZR1 is not a competitor to the Z06. In my view the Z06 is a hardcore Corvette that is ready for a road rally straight off the show room floor comparable to the same niche as the Ford GT, Viper, etc. For track abuse nobody thinks FI is ideal so the LS7 is the ideal powerplant.
The ZR1 on the other hand is a world class GT to be compared with the SLR McLaren, Porche GT, 599 Fiorano, Audi R8, etc. all of which offer a no compromise package of performance, luxury and comfort for long trips at (high speeds).
In all fairness I don't think it is an apples to apples comparison.

I agree with a lot of what's been posted here. I think all of the C6's are gorgeous and the camaro looks awesome (except for tail lights imo). I think GM has been producing some pretty ugly cars other than the maro & vette. The GTO was too plain looking, the g6 gxp looks dumb and i'm not that excited about the g8. I can't imagine what the C7 will look like!

My chips are on the C7 being mid-engine! If they can get away with not putting pop-up headlights on the C6 then I guess mid-engine is the next step to evolving America's sports car. Not sure why they want to do that because the current car really has an excellent weight distribution. It really is hard to improve upon the C6 in that regard.
Maybe GM thinks that making the Corvette, mid-engine would make european doubters (COUGH, "Jeremy Clarkson" Cough, cough!) take the car more seriously since it would have the DNA of a true exotic.
It kind of makes sense though because it looks to me like GM is pushing the C6 platform as far as it can go in the ZR1 so the next step would have to be a new chassis from the ground up.

MSRP should be around $100K
That's before dealer mark up though.

There only making 2000 per year though. Id honestly expect dealers to be asking double the MSRP, just like Ford did with the GT.

Pretty sure. I remember the local Ford dealership was asking 300,000 for their GT, though the MSRP was 150 grand. The demand will greatly outweigh the number available so i would expect as much.

Ya i wouldnt pay that for one if i could, amazing car but its just a beefed up corvette. Id rather have something that was more unique. The performance though is unbeatable for the price.

awesome car minus that hood window. if they got rid of that it'd be more fun to stare at than any porno.

-100k is too much more money
-3350lbs is too much more weight
-a very sleek look is now too bulbous
-gas guzzler tax is just the exclamation point on the problem
All the selling points that made the ZO6 so desirable are getting booted...
I just dont think this car is as all around awesome as the ZO6

problem with that is...people are buying those cars as status symbols...not so much for performance...if they wanted performance they would buy the ZO6. It's difficult for me to see buyers droppin that kind of money on a chevy for status... its like saying I'm a frugal baller

if I had 100 grand a choice between a Z06 and a ZR1 I'd def. pick the ZR1. don't tell me you wouldn't.
