On-Star slowdown option on '09 Chevys
This program is going to be available on Chevy's starting in '09 and will have a direct link to the power train. With that said I can imagine future headaches regarding power loss.
What do you guys think? In favor of it or not.

I think its a great idea personally. Now if all of the other automakers can utilize it somehow..its only GM specific for now though.

Not really. Insurance companies will BS you around for stupid reasons.
Fore example, I have Lo-Jack in my car. I called the insurance company and I said why I am not getting a discount for my Lo_jack? They said, its because Lo-Jack doesn't prevent the car from getting stolen. shit like that pisses me off.

It can work just the same as the wired plice setup vehicles. Ever watch the hidden camera theif have the car stall, and doors not unlock? Onstar can do the same thing when the vehicle is reported stolen, and they have a signal from it. it has nothing to do with stopping the way you drive, only helping to recover a vehicle before it's destroyed.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
*ala Rush* We have assumed control! We have assumed control!
I agree with Pecha on this. I don't need Big Brother snooping into my car business.
This thread reminds me of what I heard on the Simpsons last night:
Lisa, "But what about the Constitution?"
Bart, "Oh the Patriot Act killed that to ensure our freedom."
That cracked me up big time.

This is an another example of Big Brother (G. Orwell's 1984 not gay tv show).
The Onstar system has too much power over your vehicle already imo.
