Any aquarium keepers?
Hey guys i was just wondering if there was anyone that was into aquariums... If so show them off...
Here is my 10 gallon SW that i plan on keeping a Mantis Shrimp in..
Here is a pic of it after i picked up about 6 pounds of Live rock and a temporary powerhead.
after equipment has been added everything seems to be dong nicely... the skimmer had alot of wattery discharge, but ive read thats pretty normal and the lunar lighting is very blue and very spotlightish, but i will prolly do somthing about that later as a project...
Its still just cycling, but hey its better than nothing...
here is it with a bit of a rearranging of the rocks... I like it alot better like this. It looks like i have more rock in it this way and is just overall more pleasing to the eye...
It will still be atleast a week befor all my water paramets let me add anything, but i think its doing pretty well for my first SW attempt...

Thought the smaller the tank, the harder it is to keep a salt water tank?

mines fresh... builds up algie fast tho.. it has to pumps, they need cleaned weekly, glass needs scraped of algie weekly, and the rocks need sucked weekly, pumps you have to refill them with cotten and charcoal, we have sucker fish.. but there usless to a 60gal tank, we did have 2 placostimises that were over a foot long each, tank got to small for them and they fought and both died..... what a pisser... had em for over 17 years. This is deffinately true... but its my opinion that untill you get down to tiny tanks (like a gallon) its not really THAT bad... its just a thing with contaminents... a samll amount will really affect smaller tanks...
and i have about $200 total in this tank... 55 built up to the same stage would prolly be $1000 or more... and i just dont have the room for that...
i nearly went with a 20 gallon long, but it was too deep for my counter...

favorite pic, my tube worm eating a cricket alive. I caught this cricket in my house threw it into the tank and the water flow ran it right into the tube worms tentacles ! Tough way to die.

This is my 125 gallon salt water tank. I actually sold it last year, but am getting a 24g nanocube for x-mas. We also have another 125 gallon salt water in my basement, but my brother doesnt take care of it.

I had a 20 gal fresh tank for maybe 6 years. My advice, get a dog, less maintance. I read a book to figure out which fish would cohabitate with each other before I chose my fish. I put them in after I let the water filter for a week, and made sure water was a-ok. First batch my sucker fish, forget what it even was killed all my neons. But then I got some more neons later on and he never touched them. I think since it was new he had a lack of a food or something.
I gave up on it though after getting tired of cleaning it so often. I put my huge goldfish in a relative coy pond and is doing fine, the other fish went to a friends tank. Debated doing it again, but I think I would only go with oscars or pirhannas.

I have a 45 gallon with a Texas cichlid and a synodontis eupterus (weird catfish). I got my cichlid at a bait stand at Canyon Lake. I bought 2 dozen live perch for bait and there were 2 in with the perch. One died right away and one is alive and well in my tank.
