Fuel Guage ?

I was driving around the other day and notice that its about to put some fuel in the bird and my check guages light turns on while I am heading to the gas station. When I get there the light goes off but I still fill it up. I didnt have my checkbook so I only got to put about 10 gallons in it. When i started it up I had about 3/4 of a tank, but later after driving it I looked down and I had a full tank???? I know now that there is something wrong but what do I need to check or replace. Any Ideas , Hope this is in the right thread

well gm fuel gauges suck...now it can either be your sending unit going out ( its part of the fuel pump) or you could of just have more gas in there then you thought...just fill it up and see if it moves like it did before this...hope this helps ya a lil

Mine always reads higher when first starting the car, my driveway is uphill. After a few miles, then restarting after a stop it's lower. I'd fill it up like ultra said and see what happens.

Mine will tell me check gauges with 100 miles left on the tank. It only happens at startup, and if I turn it off and turn the key to run when it's glitchy, it usually gives me an accurate idea of what's in there.
