Stroker Question??

Ive been looking to get a motor for my t/a pretty soon and just curious what people opinions are. Ive got two prices for 383 stroker motor long blocks and they run about 8,000 but im curious if anyone has any different ideas. I know slp makes a 402 stroker for 8,000 but you can only get it in an lq9 block.. Would that drop right in to the trans am or would there have to be modifications because im not real farmiliar w/ the lq9. If anyone has any ideas it would be great. Im just looking for an engine rebuild to put out about 500+ hp.

the iron block would drop right in, ive got an lq4 in my camaro. some people say you need to drill a hole for the alternator bracket, i didnt and have had zero problems. the ground off the battery is a little more towards the front of the engine, i just cut my loom a little and stretched it.

I have a LT1 trans am im currently building the 383 stroker out of. Do you have your original block? B/C its only costing me about 2,000 for the Kit and machine work and the rest is just me assembling it.im looking at about 3500-4000 total, 8 grand is alot man!! You should look into building it yourself you could save alot of cash.
