engine start problem

my car is a 1998 trans am w/278000 miles. it starts every time except when i don't turn the key all the way. sometimes this happens because of partial numbness in my fingers and my hand slips. when this happens and i try to restart the engine sputters and stalls. i have waited as much as a hour but it still doesn't start. if i wait a day it starts no problem. any help would be appreciated.

Possible VATS issues. meaning the key tumbler contacts with the key may be failing or dirty.

security light on?

thanks for your response no security lights come or stay on. how can i clean tumblers if its possible

WAS at sam's gas when had problem again. the attendant a older gentle men came over and told me its not getting enough gas. told to turn ignition to on, wait 2 seconds,turn off,repeat 3 times then start car. started right up! had three different shops look at this and they couldn't figure it out. amazing!
