A Better Goat
I will post this in one other place but I will start HERE! Im looking for a car from 1999 to 2006, and I was reading the goats with the ls1 had more punch in HP then the fire, z28? why? then we can get into the ls2 that the goats had >but Im wondering why the goats had more HP from the early ls1s? then the Fire, Z28, SS? Your Thoughts?

That's what I found out that the later ls1s got a few things from the ls2 to pump up horse but still the later fire-cam got a 325 rate but the goat got a 350 rate!! very intro

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A, 00 FBVert, 78T/A
The early LS1's had crapy heads. But when paired with the 243 heads from the LS6 engine and a better cam profile they perform just as good as the later LS1's. Only main difference between the early and later LS1 blocks is the oil galleys are slightly different other then that the block architecture is the exact same. The early LS1's 97-98 suffered from bad oil pumps but that was fixed in 99. The 99 LS1 is a bastard year because they came with 26lb injectors vs the 28lbs the other years came with. It also had a different cam profile. The 01-02 LS1 blocks were actually LS6 blocks with LS1 cam. That is why there is a difference with the HP/tq between Vette and F bodies. GM couldn't have the F-bodies matching the Vettes now could they.
