80's Suburban project Which LS engine to install?
Hello I want to install a LS drive train in an 80's Chevy Suburban 2WD. Since I am new to LS drive trains I would like to know what you think would be a good LS engine to run in this vehicle.
Not looking for a super high performance, but a good set up for towing a Small boat and my car trailer. Looking to find one in a Salvage yard so I can get the trans wiring harness and engine.
Thank you in advance

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A, 00 FBVert, 78T/A
The 5.3L is pretty much the work horse of the LS truck world. They can be beefed up and are pretty good amount of torque out of the box.
Now if you can get a LQ4 or 9 engine those are 6.0L blocks and have a lot more potential and build options.
Now you'll have the easiest time doing a 24x build vs a 58x build. Meaning look for 04 and older blocks. After 05 they converted to 58x reluctor wheels and that means getting the wire harness, ecm and some other stuff to make it work.
There's more, lots more, but that's enough to get you started and out looking. Once you get the block then we can be more detailed in what you need to do/get.
