Did you guys look at the link I posted? The pad material is the same amount on each pad. It's just the part that the friction material is mounted to is a different shape.

Odd. Generically speaking, the only difference is usually that the inner pad has mounting tangs that insert into the piston or it has the replacement indicator squealer thingy tab.

It's not the 1st time parts have been mixed up in a batch.
Believe it or not but that slight difference could make a lot of difference.

Most of my (previous) career in car parts was Toyota/Lexus but I did have a year or three with GM and the five pointed star of (failed) quality; and I cannot say that I have ever seen an axles side of pads where the pad surface was a different size from the others. I’ve seen different hardware for wear sensors and such but all four pads friction material has always been the same size.

Does anyone know what size rear a standard 2000 Camaro SS comes with?

Well, the off-going pads are a few years old already, so I don't know how "new" this is, but FWIW, the generics I got ALSO come with two different shapes for the inner and outer pads.
The front pads are 4 of a kind, however (with the squealy thingy attached to the inner pad only).Last edited by Naaman; 12-23-2017 at 06:33 PM.
