The 10-bolt Everyone Loves To Hate
Well lets see now ,
Fords 8.8 rear end ring gear & pinion sells for about $155.00 to $175.00 from FORD MOTORSPORTS.
Chevy's weak ass 10-bolt ring gear & pinion sells for , get this now , $910.00. And the damn thing breaks if you look at it cross-eyed.
General Motors knows they are selling inferior products like the 10-bolt , but hey , thier makin a killin off thier ring gears & pinions !

I think I "might" have paid like $200 brand new for my ring gear and pinion. There is no way I would pay that much for them.

I can get you a ring and pinion for 200 or so that is made by motive gear. Guess what ford motorsports' gears are. Shit you can get good gears for great prices aftermarket, why are you set on getting them from the dealer?

I bought OEM cause all the aftermarket gears make noise either right away or shortly there after. Mine's a Vert & my thang is cruisin the streets so we can't stand no noise with our monsoon.

if they start making noise then take it back to the installer. It is usually an install error, improper backlash or preload. For the most part they will all make noise on break in, but it goes away as the new wear pattern sets in. The only gears I will not use are genuine gears. Or genuwhine if you will, they do make noise. I have set up a couple of rears and a front or 2. 910 is way too much for a gearset, it better have come with a carrier and bearings, as well as a new posi.

Please tell me you didn't pay $910 for a set of 10 bolt gears?

Agreed....I dropped around $200 for my Motive 3.90's. At $200 it is a VERY worthwhile mod, however at $900, I would definitely consider a cam swap instead!
2002 Camaro SS M6, 2.5 PRC 5.3L heads, TFS 228/230 cam, FAST 92, bolt ons + a 10 lb bottle in the back.
1989 Corvette L98, A4, Full bolt ons, etc.
