Leaky Band clamps...
My clamps are leaking at the collectors. What can I do (if anything) to get them to stop leaking? I read on here that someone put some exhaust tape over where the two pieces slip fit together. Will that work and where can I get the tape? I do not want to weld anything on my exhaust though. I would like to be able to get it apart when needed. Also the clamps I am using are the ones from NAPA. Any help is greatly appreciated.

first off I'm not too sure which clamps you're talkingabout but when I put mine on I went to an exhaust place and got wide stepped clamps they fit and secure much better if you're uncertain of the seal these will provide you should go to a rubber hose provider and they usually have some gasket material that will be able to take the temperatures.

I use aluminum exhaust tape - kinda hard to find but worth it, nice tight seal and made to withstand the heat, and not permanent or messy
You can google it - made by a company named Victor's and there are others

Here you go! 3"x3" Band Clamps either stepped or flat! The flat (unstepped) are better at sealing up leaks and have a much tighter clamping force.

I picked up a muffler repair kit, which comes with some Heat shrink tape. Worked just fine on my headers and only cost a few bucks. From chinazone

I assume when you say ChinaZone you mean Autozone, haha? I will check those kits out. I will also look into the exhaust tape. What kind of silicone did you use also?
Also, the clamps I have now are the 3" stainless steel clamps from NAPA auto parts. They were about $11 a pop. Supposedly people have used these with decent results. Hopefully one of the methods suggessted in this thread will work. Thanks all.
