How about a best way to launch my M6 thread?!
So as some of you know I have only had my car around 3 weeks. I have been taking it easy on it. I am on the stock rear end and stock gears. I subframe connectors, pandhard bar, control arms, and 387hp to the wheels. Oh yeah, I also have Nitto NT555r Extreme 2 tires on it, which I believe are drag radials. I am worried about busting my rear if I launch to hard because these tires stick and I dont want to start hopping. Any suggestions on what I should launch at, both on the street and at the track?

I would also like an answer to this question. I have had my car for about 4 months now and I've been to the track once. From a roll racing I have no problem at all. But from a dig, I can't seem to get it right. I dont know if it is the excitement or adrenaline from the race, but I always seem to give it wayyyyyy to much gas and peel out all throughout 1st gear. My best run at the track was a 13.56 and that was all stock. (today's mods below) So how do all you professionals launch your cars good?

I launch at 2900-3200 depending the road and weather. I have some suspension most people i talk to with stock suspension launch at 2500-3000. You just have to practice, slippingthe clutch so you dont spin too bad nad so you dont let the rpms drop to far. And if you have drag radials and a 9inch you can launch a cammed ls1 at 4500rpms.

It is different between cars what you can launch at, the tires, suspension, other conditions, when i launch at 3000rpms, i squeal a little but it never gets sideways or anything, unless i want it to. When i shift into second hard it spins them but once again just for a secodn and i chirp goin into 3rd. I ran a 1.947 60 foot. Which i think for stock size tires is pretty good. That was my best time, most of them were low 2.00s

2500-3000 rpms is what I launch at and it seems to work alright.

So even at like 2500 it will break?
What about races from a roll? do they still break?

roll races dont hurt rear ends like a launch does...

When I went to the track I feathered the throttle between 2000-2500RPM and just came off the clutch quickly when I got the green. I netted a 2.157 60' time. DO NOT drop the clutch (unless you have a 9" or 12 bolt and sticky tires) because all that will do is shock the driveline and result in ridiculous wheel spin.
I have 285/40 Eagle F1 DS-G3's out back, and even at that low of an RPM, in 90 degree weather, I still spun off the line and spun pretty hard going into 2nd.

i could only guess at the rpm say 2000-2200 i just wait for the second amber to light up then floor it and drop the clutch at the third amber. my 60 ft. are in the 2.3-2.1 range, with the tracktion control on. oh and by the way my car dynoed at 642 rwhp corrected, in Denver it's more like 533. it's been almost a year now at those levels

I like to launch around 2200-2500 rpm and quickly, but evenly ROLL on the throttle. So the tires spin a little but dont light up.

Black on black.- 2001 WS6 M6 (stock)
VERY GENTLY until you get a Ford rear end under it. You can blow a 10-bolt gently taking off at a light at an idle sometimes. Be careful and have fun.

My 02' SS lived with the stock rear with a T/A differential cover w/ bearing girdle. It actually just prolonged it's life, but it lasted for me luckily. I ran Nittos DR's and launched at the track at 4,800 one time with an M6. It was a big mistake and I didn't mean to do it, but that beeyatch left like she was shot out of a cannon!! Too bad when I hit 2nd, the clutch gave it up....
This 2000 T/A is all stock, but I am changing all the fluids and have a Pro 5.0 purchased and will be getting another T/A cover. I know it won't save it, but if I get better at leaving, maybe it will be with me for a while....2002 Camaro SS - SLP # 7744

i only launch at like 2k, any more than that and they spin. thats on the street though. at the track i coulda launched much higher, but look at it like this, with a stock rear end theres not much to be gained by pushing it that little bit extra. chances are you'll just break it. my perfect launch is at 1900-2k getting a mild squeal through first, just experiment on street tires (save your rear end), its pretty quick work to figure out how muh gas'll break em loose, then just give it a little less untill u stick. after you get that down you can switch to dr's if you want (i really wouldn't recomend it unless u got some serious $$). if you want a good launch buy new clutch and rear end or stick to street tires. dr's aren't garunteed to break the rear, but thats an expensive maybe...
plus i'd rather be able to do donuts and such, dr's are def. not your friend for that kinda fun!
