PORTED Throttle Body!?!
Is it a good mod?
Any downsides?
What kind of gains are possible along w/ these listed mods?
SLP induction kit w/smooth bellows
MSD wires
NDK spark plugs
3" Texas Racing X-Pipe
3" bullet mufflers
Hooker longtube headers w/ NO cats
The car is a 00' 6 speed SS with just over 10,000 miles on it.

yeah, i went over to mark's house and got mine, got a s3 polished. the difference was like day and night, like going from a 100 degree day to a 40 degree night
highly recommended

ported and polished throttle bodies are definitely worth it...
however I can not see spending $150 on something i can do myself within 3hours.
I ported and polished my own throttle body and a few friends throttle bodies. I used a variable speed dremel, and many various grits of sandpaper to polish the inside and outside.
Also another throttle body mod to do, that improves HP is the bumpstop mod.
It advances spark, increases fuel delivery and alleviates the throttle body blade from obstructing air flow.

Also I would not waste $40 on the SLP smooth bellow.
save that money for other mods.
go to menards or home depot and by a 3.5"x3.5" black rubber Fernco tube.
heat up the tube, trim it to fit and your down.
the tube cost under $4.00

in regards to HP gains.
in ex:
SLP LID
ported TB
bellow
true dual exhaust no cats
LT headers.
honestly you will be around 30-40 rwhp... Each car is different some have been less and few have been more.

i cant really see how porting a 78 mm throttle body out a bit will make much of a difference because i did it and it made no difference. even with "supporting mods" a pp throttle wont give you gains to write home about. for 150 bucks, id recommend concnetrating those funds into something worthwhile.

ported TB is a good mod for the price, it helps alot with throttle responce
M6, Lid, Ported and Polished Throttle Body (By Me!), LT, Custom Catted Y, Electric Cutout, PHB, LCA13.21@108 with a 2.3 60'

a ported and polished TB, does it work or not.
First off a ported and polished TB does not significantly increase the overall CFM of air into the intake manifold. Reason being is because porting and polishing a TB does not increase its overall intake bore size which is 78mm around the TB blade and so is the intake manifold. 78mm is just slightly over 3 inches. There are 25.4mm to 1 inch.
so do not expect huge gains.
What porting and polishing a TB does is promote more volumetric air (like a carb stack), less turbulence and less restriction on air flow. This does promote some increase in HP but not enough to warrant paying $150 for, when you can just do it yourself. The removal of inside material before the blade and polishing, promotes the above.
Stock throttle bodies not ported or polished with stock ls6 intakes have performed great on 900rwhp twin turbo cars.
definitely spend the $150 elsewhere, port and polish the TB yourself.
Honestly the bumpstop mod is better mod then a ported/polished tb.
however when racing every little bit counts.
