The speakers beside the rear seats are the factory subs. They are dual coil. Just tap in to one set, on each sub !!!
I mounted my crossover in the rear w/ the amp, which made it easy to run the wires back under the plastic covers. Good Luck !!!

REALLY?! dude...i garauntee that you're either not used to the sound of subs, or something's fishy here...but the signal to the ones in the hatch are just midrange. I bet if you tapped into the bass speakers next to the rear seats you'll enjoy a totally different sound

check the wiring guides at the top of the "sounds/electronics" page and makesure you tap the right wires. YOu might be able to get away with only tapping into one speaker-i believe it's a mono signal for bass

i would except aftermarket head units look like complete ass imo,
i have yet to see a aftermarket deck that fits the hole properly without having one of those stupid looking plastic things that holds it in,

i'm with you 100% I hate the look of aftermarket H/U's. I like the functionatlity and accesability that the stocker has.

You can make a mouting bracket out of your material of choice in lieu of using one of those crappy plastic things.
I've been trying to find my website on sounddomain for my Explorer that I sold. But I can't seem to locate it. Used some 3/4 MDF. Covered it in speaker box carpet. It looked badass.
Whenever I get around to replacing this one I'll do the same thing. But don't hold your breath, don't know when I'll do that yet. I will post up some pics of it though.
