Renting Space...Advice/Help needed!!!
I am renting 2 bays of a 3 car garage from my landlord...She WAS fine with me working on my car, and now all of a sudden she's worried about me working on my car in the garage...Her daughter's boyfriend (who is a lawyer, and happens to be a decent guy) told her that it might not be a good idea. I am meeting with him tonight or tomorrow to discuss the situation...
She is worried about something happening to me or the structure, which is totally understandable. So I called up my renters insurance company and they told me that I have $100,000 in liability if anything were to happen to myself or the building. That said, can anyone think of anyway of me getting dicked out of this...?

Sounds like to me that if you are indeed insured, that there should be no problem.
But, she is the owner of the property and can pretty much make up the rules if you didn't sign an agreement letting you work on your cars.
So, play nice with her. Let her know about the insurance and if she is a nice lady, you should be fine

Haha. I think I'll getall drunk and go sign some papers, then claim that I was under the influence and that I can not be held liable for my actions (signing a legal document when intoxicated).
She is a very nice lady, and again, she had no problems with it when we first talked about it, but now that her soon to be son in law (aka the lawyer) is giving her "legal" advice, she is rethinking it. I think once they see the insirance policy they will reconsider. I'm a heck of a nice guy (most of the time) and we've never had anything but kind words, so hopefully that'll help me out.

tell them "i'll sign a waiver that relieves you of liability... but it's your job to provide insurance on the building not mine... if you don't like it give me my fucking money back... i'm not playing with bull shit like this..." if they give you shit my pops would more than likely be willing to rent out a bay in his garage...

Just provide a "certificate of insurance" to the landlord (which would be fairly common practice)...... Your insurance agency shouold be able to provide you one on a moments notice.

The insurance company said to either give them a copy of the policy, or just give them the policy #. She's a very nice old lady, but I guess she's just worried about liabillity, which my renter's insurance covers up to $100,000, and the garage is not worth even close to that....Maybe 30k

She's probably worried you SUE her for any physical damage you did to yourself/car on her property. I aint sayin you would., but people are fucked up.. Had an Aunt.. Came over to see us... AFTER we told her she wasn't welcome... Fell on our front steps and tried to sue us... We counter sued for Tresspassing and Time Lost ( court dates etc) from work..I'll spare ya the details..Her son being a lawyer probably see's all that shit happening every day and is simply being a good son and trying to spare her that crap.
I certainly wouldnt take it personal if you have had a good relationship so far.

Here's the deal...
I can't work on my car if it's in the garage, but my landlord told me I can pull the motor out inthe driveway, and work on it in the garage!!! Kind of stupid, but here homeoners told her that, and so did the fucking retarted township we live in.
This area is full of stuck up rich assholes and they told her that I should take my car to a garage, and that the garage isn't suited to work on cars hahaha! My landlord is just trying to protect herself, and I can fully unerstand that, but I hate how ignorant others can be...
