Me vs Smart Car
I was on my way home in my SS on the e-way just cruising like 10 above the limit like everybody else and I see something small and yellow up the road doing 55(10mph less than traffic). She was in the middle lane pissing people off. As I passed I saw it was a smart car and a lady in like her 40s and she was FOCUSED hahaha, that dead straight look ahead(eyes on the road)... Well I passed and had a little time before my exit and I started to slow up because I wanted to mess with her. I waited... waited... WAITED... I had to go more than 10mph below the speed of traffic just to let her catch up to me while she was so focused on how much gas she was saving. So when she caught up to me I was going like 45 and I looked over... She was still just focused on saving gas... So I looked over and waved. As she looked at me I downshifted to 3rd and jumped on it a couple times and looked at her and she had the most frightened look on her face. I smiled at her and laughed so hard then sped off to my exit like a mile down the road. I had to have a little fun today.

Holy crap, I didn't realize those actually passed safety standards and are being sold in the U.S. now. They're death traps on wheels.

I have to admit I imagine being much much safer in my ss than one of those styrofoam cup cars anyday. I can imagine buying one and staying off the expressway though. I think I need one to save cash on gas.
When I get one I'm going to put some SS badges on it and a catback LMAOLast edited by 7camaro7; 04-02-2008 at 09:01 PM.

You definitely don't want to get into an accident in one of those things, that's for sure!

What's the retail on those. They'd be good for getting around town.

I never want to drive one of those; like others have said: Death Trap, and if it can't get up to traffic speed as fast as everything else it's more likely to cause an accident - especially if driven wrong (middle lane). I have no pity for someone getting picked on if they are driving in the middle lane and well below the posted speed limit. Sounds like she was likely close to the minimum speed too (if there is one there, it's 45 in a lot of places here). Looking straight ahead while driving isn't very focussed, imo., she should have been checking her mirrors.

HAHA! I think I've had lawnmowers that make more power than those cars! HAHA!
In all seriousness, I do like the fact that manufacturers (in general) are being much more fuel conscious, however some people take the concept of "fuel economy" WAY too far! While maintaining a lower speed will certainly help with fuel economy, the increased possibility of getting killed in a car accident (caused by your driving 10 mph below the speed limit in the middle lane of the interstate) just doesn't seem like a worthwhile trade off to me!2002 Camaro SS M6, 2.5 PRC 5.3L heads, TFS 228/230 cam, FAST 92, bolt ons + a 10 lb bottle in the back.
1989 Corvette L98, A4, Full bolt ons, etc.

God I hope not. More like the overly-environmentally conscious folks, or people who think they are saving money by buying an all new car to get a better gas mileage with no regard to their safety or safety of others (like the bad driver in this topic who was driving one).
If I ever see a smart car driving down the road with some 16 year old in it, with a big aluminum wing and racing stripes... I will puke (most likely from laughing so hard).
