Navy Blue Metallic- `98 Formula M6 HdTp
I don't understand the Question
What are you actually referring to the engine ? the rear end ? the trans ?
You need to be more Specific.Craig

black- 2000 nhra edition formula
generally speaking, when you start hitting the 400 rwhp mark, shit starts breaking quickly if its stock like the trans and rear end.
2000 nhra edition formula
a few bolt ons, 379 rwhp

Like said above it depends on which component your speaking of. Rear end eats itself under stock hp. Tranny and Ds are also pretty weak in stock form. Motor will hold itself together for a bit but from what iv seen, main rod bolts and pushrods are pretty weak. It also depends on what you plan on doing with the car, Ie weekend drag car, straight drag car, stop light king etc.
Also if your going forced induction it puts more strain on more parts.
J2001 SS, Its not the car its the Driver that matters....

As for the block, I wouldn't want any more than 450.

M6 can handle power all day, 450 is baby food to it. Rear is prolly going to be destroyed with that much power. A4 most likely wont hold to that much power. Block can handle it all day and all night.

Like to limit HP to 575ish rwhp for turbo, 550 rwhp for centri SCs, and 625 rwhp on nitrous. These numbers are M6/dynojet numbers. Autos will of course be lower. This is assuming that your setup has been properly tuned; that's most of what will keep it together.

I ran 576rwhp/590rwtq on a stock bottom-end with no problems. I eventually pushed a head-gasket and the engine looked beautiful when taken apart. The factory crank is very stout and I've never heard of a block splitting. The piston ring-lands and rod bolts are the weakest links.
