Worth the money to be proactive?
So lets say I have $3500 to spend on some uprrades for my camaro. I've already got a cam, full exhaust and a tune, and I'm putting down a respectible 402 rwhp and 398 rwtq.
My clutch slips. It is the original clutch, and I know I need a new one. So that is a given that I'll be spending on the clutch.
So the real question is, do I take the proactive approach and upgrade the rear to a 12 bolt, or do I use the ~2500 or so left after getting the clutch all squared away for something else?
For the record, that something else would probably be a FAST intake, some throttle body, injectors, and maybe wheels and tires.Last edited by gashkerwin; 08-16-2009 at 05:45 PM.
I have a website to help people out who are shopping for a new washer. I've taken the time to read through and summarize front load washer reviews for many models. Check it out if you are shopping for a new washer, hopefully it can help you out.

I personally would put it towards the rear. The way I see it, you spend that cash on the other things and then when your rear shits on you, then you are left with a car that sits in the garage that you can't drive...
You can always throw another 10 bolt in there for several hundred if it does break and keep your fingers crossed.
Some people get lucky with stock 10 bolts, others don't. I think it is just a matter of time before it will go with those numbers as many of us LS1 owners have broke it with stock power.
Do you run street tires or DRs?
Nice numbers BTW.

Right now I have street tires, and nothing special ones at that. As I said, right now my weak link is the clutch slipping, and in truth I'd rather blow the tires off than my clutch burn up.
Not being able to drive the car isn't a huge issue for me, as it's my 3rd car (also have a motorcycle), so while yeah, it would kinda suck, it wouldn't be an huge inconvenience to me.

What kind of power do you have? How many miles are on your rear? Have you beaten on your rear a lot?
I'm not terribly concerned about blowing it on the street. On a cool still night my car can be heard for over a half mile if you're in the general direction that the exhaust is pointed in, and I dislike getting tickets, so I usually keep it pretty well under control.
As for blowing it at a track, I trailer to and from so...
